Does Elden Ring have difficulty settings? How to make the game easier?

The Game of the Year, Elden Ring, is undoubtedly a beautiful experience and flawless in almost all the gaming aspects. However, the one thing most of the fandom always seems to be complaining about this mesmerizing open-world title is that it is way too difficult.

The developers, FromSoftware Games, are renowned for making highly challenging games and not even allowing the players to lower the games’ difficulty!

Elden Ring does not have an easy mode or difficulty settings like most of the other FromSoftware games. However, players can make it easier by playing it with a friend or using a trainer mod.

Recently, Elden Ring was at the center of a heated debate within the gaming community regarding the increasing difficulty of recent games like Sekiro, Cuphead, etc. Many players argued that all games should allow players to lower the difficulty so that everyone can enjoy them.

How to make Elden Ring easier?

Elden Ring can be made easier by using trainer mods or utilizing the following tips and tricks:

I. Elden Ring Tips and Tricks for Beginners

i. Choose an Easy to Play and Master Class

Watching veterans destroy bosses with flashy plays and magic spells, using a difficult-to-master class like Prophet or Astrologer may convince the newcomers to play the game with the same classes.

However, if you are new to the game, it is better to use the Hero or the Vagabond class because they have high Vigor, and it is easier to play with their choice of weapons.

ii. Level Up Your Vigor

Elden Ring

Vigor or Health is the most important stat in the game. Players generally make the mistake of speed-leveling their attack stats instead of the Vigor.

Remember, Elden Ring is a game of perseverance. You need to learn the attack patterns of your enemies and keep striking them until they are down.

In case you slip up once or twice, that extra Vigor will keep you in the fight and save you from getting absolutely rekt.

iii. Make Use of the Shields

In Elden Ring, defense is the best attack. Shields in Elden Ring allow you to mitigate any damage coming your way or even completely block it.

Generally, the shield’s size decides how many attacks it can block before your guard breaks down. Great shields can block the most number of attacks, while small shields help the least.

iv. Invite a Friend to Play With you

Elden Ring

Elden Ring is a multiplayer souls-like game, so you can use the Furlcalling Finger Remedy item to summon a helper, your friend, into your game at various intervals throughout the game to help you out with the brutal boss fights.

v. Make Good Use of the Spirit Summons

In specific locations across the Elden Ring universe, Spirit Ash enables you to summon NPC followers. In essence, they let you hire in-game foes to assist you take down bosses and hordes of powerful foes.

These Spirit Summons are a game-changer in Elden Ring. The summons are good enough to draw the boss’s attention so that players can land a few strikes, even if they do not last long enough to damage the boss themselves during a battle.

II. What are Elden Ring trainers?

i. FLiNG Trainer

Elden Ring

Elden Ring trainers are software that allow players to modify the game’s parameters to cheat or create exciting scenarios.

FLiNG trainer is one of the best trainers available out there for Elden Rings campaign. Download it here.

Note that trainers are like a cheat for the game, and Elden Ring uses EasyAntiCheat (EAC) protection, which can detect the trainers and may ban you for using it.

In order to launch this game without EAC, please follow these instructions after installing the trainer:

  1. Copy “start_protected_game.exe” to the game and install location\Game folder (the folder where eldenring.exe is located).
  1. Start game.

ii. Easy Mode for Elden Ring

“Easy Mode for Elden Ring” is a mod available on NexusMod that reduces the damage taken and increases the damage done to make the game easier for many frustrated games.

To install the mod:

  1. Download the “Easy Mode for Elden Ring” mod from NexusMod .
  1. Back up your existing regulation.bin.
  1. Diable EasyAntiCheat
  1. Copy and Replace the downloaded regulation.bin into your \steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game.. folder.

That’s it! Once you install the mod, you can start playing the game with the new modded settings.

Is Elden Ring harder than Dark Souls?

Dark Souls and Elden Ring

Elden Ring is almost as difficult as the Dark Souls games, but its open-world nature makes it more forgiving than the Souls game.

In Dark Souls, players are primarily crammed in narrow boss areas or dark corridors, making it extremely difficult to maneuver in a fight. Players cannot back away from a battle in Souls game as the locations close behind them. Additionally, they can’t invite their friends to support them in fights as the games are single-player.

Elden Ring is quite different in this aspect. If you are locked in a challenging boss fight, you can just run away in any direction into the game’s vast open world. You can also use the game’s multiplayer to summon any of your friends and take down any boss together.

Thus, Elden Ring gives a lot of liberties to the players in terms of how they wish to approach the game.
