Does Norman like Emma in The Promised Neverland?

After a long and fulfilling run, The Promised Neverland series came to an end, and the story of Emma, Norman, and Ray reached a bittersweet conclusion.

However, despite that, there are still unanswered questions left such as Norman’s feelings towards Emma.

Does he like her? Do they end up reciprocating each other’s feelings at the end?

1. Does Norman love Emma?

Norman does like Emma but not in a romantic way. As orphans of Grace Field, they have been close throughout their entire lives, and are willing to sacrifice much for the other’s sake. Norman & Emma have risked their lives more than once to help each other.

Norman is moved by Emma’s desire to save everyone, and despite her naivety and reckless behavior, he admires how true she is to herself.

Norman adds that it was because of Emma’s feelings that he was able to smile even when he was nearing his end.

At the beginning of the series, Norman confesses to Ray that he will do anything to fulfill Emma’s wish because he loves her. He also mentions that he would sacrifice anyone, even himself, to save her.

When they are reunited two years later, despite the long time they didn’t see each other, Norman and Emma still love and genuinely care for each other.

In a letter from Norman, Norman mentions how he has always loved Emma, ever since they were toddlers. When Emma asked what he wanted to become when he grew up, a future in which he could be with Emma was the first thing that came to his mind.

2. How do Norman and Emma know each other?

Being orphans of the Grace Field House, Norman and Emma have been close friends throughout their lives. Whether it be taking daily tests, playing a game of tag, or even eating food, they were always by each other’s side.

Under the loving care of Isabella and the companionship of other orphans, Norman and Emma spent a pleasant childhood in Grace Field together.

3. Has Norman confessed his love to Emma?

Ever since they learned the truth about the orphanage, Norman and Emma had been by each other’s side. He comforted Emma when she was breaking down and inspired her to stay strong.

Norman has stated that he loves and admires Emma and will do anything to protect her. He originally planned to confess to Emma personally and even wrote down his feelings in the letter before ultimately scrapping the idea.

Instead he vowed to tell Emma his true feelings once they reunited as adults. However, due to the Promise, Emma lost her memories, and all Norman could do was be glad that she was alive and back.

4. Do Emma and Norman meet at the end?

After Emma seals her promise with the Demon King, all the children are sent out of the demon world. Emma, however, is not with them.

She wakes up in a different place and realizes that she doesn’t remember where she came from, her past memories, or even her name.

As the months go by, Emma still doesn’t regain her memories. However, thanks to the necklace she got from Mujika, Emma dreams about her forgotten family and friends calling out to her, but always forgets about them once she wakes up.
