Will Roman lose the belt to Cody at WM 40 or will he break Hulk Hogan’s record?

Sunday, April 2, 2023, was meant to be Cody Rhodes’ crowning moment. It was supposed to be the night he finally became the massive superstar he always dreamt of being, continuing the legacy of the esteemed Rhodes family.

However, his dreams turned into a horrific nightmare as he lost to Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania Goes Hollywood. The American Nightmare has respectfully and admirably accepted his loss, but there are signs that his championship pursuit is far from over.

The biggest question everyone has right now is whether Cody Rhoades will be able to defeat Roman Reigns in WWE WrestleMania 40.

While some of you might think that Cody Rhoades defeating Roman Reigns is a surety, settle down!

Remember, Roman is the one who decides how long he keeps the title. Do you think Roman Reigns will put Cody over willingly and surrender the title? Of course not. That in itself is more than enough reason to doubt this.

Roman will only lose to a family member if it’s up to him. If that weren’t enough, in September of 2024, Roman will surpass Hulk Hogans’s 1,474-day reign. Is WWE going to stop with that right around the corner? I don’t think so. They didn’t when 1000 days came around; they won’t now either.

Finally, if that weren’t enough, there’s a powerful, strong possibility that it’s Roman vs Rock at WM 40 because Rock isn’t doing anything. He can’t; he’s not allowed to. He’s functionally unemployed as an actor.

Even if it’s not Rock, I will bet on Roman vs Solo before Roman vs Cody, especially since Cody will lose a second time. WWE would rather make Cody the World Heavyweight Champion than fail to beat Roman twice.

If you ask my opinion on this, it depends on several factors. Let’s dig deeper into the pros and cons of both the situations:

Roman loses the belt to Cody.

  • Pros
  • Cody Rhoades will have a satisfying conclusion to his story arc, which has been building for over a year.
  • Cody Rhoades might be the new Superstar WWE desperately needs.
  • It would give the WWE fans a sense of change and some fresh excitement for those who are tired of seeing Roman Reigns win every time against everyone.
  • Cons
  • It would end Roman Reign’s historic title reign, one of the most dominant in WWE history.
  • This defeat could potentially alienate some die-hard fans of Roman Reigns, who is one of the most popular stars in the company.
  • It could leave WWE without a clear top heel.

Roman Reigns is breaking Hulk Hogan’s Record.

  • Pros:
  • It would be a historic moment for WWE and Roman Reigns himself.
  • This record-breaking streak will cement Roman Reigns’ position as one of the greatest WWE superstars ever.
  • It would give WWE a significant marketing and promotional tool.
  • Cons:
  • It would delay Cody Rhoades’ inevitable coronation as the top star in WWE.
  • Roman Reign’s unnecessary dominance might get boring for some fans (it has already started) and lead to even lower TRPs for WWE.
  • It could make it challenging to find a credible challenger for Roman Reigns in the future.

What’s best for business?

The best thing for business is to have Roman Reigns lose the belt to Cody Rhoades at WrestleMania 40. It would create a new top star, give fans a sense of change, and keep the storylines fresh.

Ultimately, what to do with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 is up to WWE. But they should seriously consider having him lose the belt to Cody Rhodes. It would be the best way to ensure that WWE has a bright future ahead of it.
