Team Deathmatch — Modern Warfare 2

There are four types of Aim Assist that affect your playstyle in-game:

  • Default: Traditional aim slowdown near target used in the Modern Warfare series.
  • Precision: Strong aim slowdown that only kicks in when aiming closer to the target. Optimal settings for players who are accurate.
  • Focusing: Strong aim slowdown that also kicks in when narrowly missing the target. Optimal for players new to analog aiming.
  • Black Ops: Traditional aim slowdown near target used in the Black Ops series.

Head to Settings, then Controller, and select Advanced next to it. Scroll down to access Aim Assist. For starters, the Aim Assist Type should be set to Focusing as the aim assist becomes strongest when Focusing is enabled. Players should switch to Default with time.

As players become more experienced, they should switch to Traditional or Default so as to get the best use of aim assist. This will help players to have more control over their shots.

5. Best Field of View (FOV) settings for Modern Warfare 2

Go to Quick Settings, and head on to Field of View. Under FOV, set the settings between 100 to 115 to get the optimal field of view and help players take notice of all the things happening on screen properly. FOV significantly impacts your gameplay and performance.

The best way to determine the best controller settings is for players to play the game themselves, find out their own playstyles and tune the settings to suit their needs. Not everyone will have the same controller setting which is why it is advised to try out different options to find out the perfect playstyle for you.
