Next-Gen AMD Ryzen Desktop CPUs Will Launch This Year

It seems like the 7000 and 7000X3D might not be AMD’s final 2023 Ryzen desktop CPU release as new information has been revealed which suggests otherwise.

Gigabyte has revealed that AMD has a new generation Ryzen Desktop CPUs planned for release later this year. This information was revealed in a press release for workstation E133-C10 and R133-C10 servers, designed to support AMD Ryzen 7000 “Zen 4” series processors.

Even though the servers are designed to support the Zen 4 generation of processors, Gigabyte has confirmed they’ll be fully compliant with the next generation of CPUs too.

New Generation Ryzen CPU Series Later This Year

In the press release, it’s stated that the AMD AM5 platform will be supported at least until 2025 and new generation of Ryzen desktop CPUs which will serve as a successor to the Ryzen 7000 family, based on the Zen 4 core architecture. It will be releasing later this year and is supported by their server solution.

CPU Core Roadmap

It’s still unclear which new Ryzen Desktop CPU lineup is being mentioned here. It could be either a remodel of the existing Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPUs or it could be the Zen 5 Ryzen 8000 CPU line codenamed Granite Ridge.

High Performance Momentum

Based on the information we have; the AMD Ryzen 8000 Desktop CPU family will feature the Zen 5 core architecture. Some of the major features of Zen 5 CPUs include.

  • Enhanced performance and efficiency
  • Re-pipelined front end and wide issue
  • Integrated AI and Machine Learning optimizations

Although AMD has stated a 2024 release for its Zen 5 architecture, it’s possible that they’ve accelerated things up. If that’s not the case, then Gigabyte might be talking about a completely different Ryzen Desktop family.
