Sony releases new trailer for No Return mode in The Last of Us 2 Remastered

Sony recently announced a new survival gameplay mode for The Last of Us Part II Remastered called “No Return”. It is a great way to upgrade the iconic game and bring in new players. With just over a month left for launch, Sony decided to divulge a bit more about the new mode.

Naughty Dog released a new trailer for No Return from The Last of Us Part II Remastered. The video shows off the different characters one can play as in the roguelike mode. Characters will also have unique advantages which will be beneficial in battle.

As confirmed in the trailer, there are several playable characters in No Return including Abby, Joel, Ellie, Tommy, Jesse, Dina, Lev, Manny, Mel, and Yara. It was also revealed that Manny will possess a health advantage unlike others.

In No Return, players will be pitted against enemies in multiple locations. One will have to defeat the face along the way to progress ahead. However, be prepared to fight against some special opponents. One section even features an invisible rival.

Here are the different challenges players will face in No Return:

  • Assault – which pits you against waves of enemies.
  • Capture – in which you have to break into a safe full of valuable supplies enemies are guarding.
  • Holdout – during which you and an AI-controlled buddy defend against Infected swarming around you.
  • Hunted – in which you need to survive until the timer runs out against continuous enemy reinforcements.

The Rat King from The Last of Us 2 will make a comeback in No Return. Don’t be surprised to see familiar faces all around. Judging by the trailer itself, it is safe to assume that No Return packs a whole lot to keep one engaged.

Sony has confirmed that its DualSense controller will be used to its maximum capacity in The Last of Us Part II Remastered. Apart from improved loading times, the game will also feature support for adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered includes extras, bonuses, new skins, a Guitar Free Play mode, and three additional levels which were originally removed from the base game. All this comes with developer commentary for some extra insights. Players who own The Last of Us Part II can upgrade to the remastered version for just $10 USD.
