Starfield’s next major update will feature over 100 fixes and improvements

It has become a norm for every Starfield player to have at least one complaint about the sci-fi game. It only makes sense that its player count has dropped significantly as compared to the post-launch period. However, Bethesda is giving its best shot at making the game better.

Bethesda recently announced the first major update for Starfield in 2024. The next update is scheduled to go live on January 17th via Steam Beta. It will be available for all a few weeks later.

Although Bethesda is yet to publish its patch notes, the upcoming update will feature over 100 fixes and improvements. By the looks of it, it will be primarily focusing on fixing bugs and glitches, making the overall game much more visually pleasing.

Players can expect a fun gaming experience as bugged quests will be resolved soon. Additional widescreen support will also be added in the update to accommodate those with a bigger setup. Visual improvements such as better textures, lighting and shadows will also be added. Sun disk geometry and planet ring shadows will give the game a much more realistic feel.

Starfield is an action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was announced during Bethesda’s E3 presentation in 2018. The game takes place in a space-themed setting, and is the first new intellectual property developed by Bethesda in 29 years. The game was released for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on September 6, 2023.

It is set in an area that extends outward from the Solar System for approximately 50 light-years called the Settled Systems. Around the year 2310, the two largest factions in the game, the United Colonies and Freestar Collective, engaged in a conflict called the Colony War. The game takes place 20 years after the war, with the major factions enjoying an uneasy peace. The player assumes the role of a customizable character who is a member of Constellation, an organization of space explorers.
