In episode 8 of “My Instant Death Ability”, We see another individual who is anything but a human. Surprisingly, this was not a new character. It was Ayaka Shinozaki, Yogiri’s classmate, who “died” on the bus. She came back from the dead and started eating the lizard to regenerate.
We explored Yogiri’s past and his relationship with Asaka Takatou more. After they reached the capital, Tomochika had a sword fight with the youngest son of the royal family, David. She easily won that match, which she hadn’t even expected to happen. They reached the royal palace and finally met the king along with their other classmates.

2. Episode 8 Speculation
We learned about Ayaka Shinozaki’s terrifying truth, and no elaboration was made regarding this matter. Her human limiter was removed but how strong she is will be revealed in future episodes. For now, she’s still at square zero, back at the bus, where everything began. It’ll take her some time to reach the capital and meet Yogiri and Tomochika.
She could be a friend, but she could also be a foe. She doesn’t know much about herself yet. Which side she takes is something we’ll have to wait to find out. The king will assign the next mission to the sage candidates in episode 9, and he is the first person except for the sages who don’t hold the candidates in some special regard.
3. Recap of Episode 8
The episode started by uncovering a major information. Yogiri wasn’t the only extraordinary student in his group. Ayaka Shinozaki is also one of a kind. Apparently, she’s not human; she’s more of an AI personality in a human body. Not only that, but a certain group of people have also been monitoring her too, although it is unknown by which means they were doing so.
She quite literally came back from the dead, and even though she didn’t know much about herself, she accidentally disabled the human limiters she had on her. Following the voices of the people who had been monitoring her, she started eating the dead wyvern’s flesh to recover. After this, we dived right back into another flashback about Yogiri’s past.
After a month of teaching Yogiri about human norms, Asaka finally got to meet the director again. She got paid quite heavily, much more than she had expected, but that wasn’t the best reward. She just found out that she could leave the facility anytime she wanted. Upon hearing this, she immediately went on a vacation. Well, that didn’t end well.
She got captured by another agency that was against the previous one. This one wanted to terminate threats like Yogiri. Back at the agency, Yogiri, who had already grown fond of Asaka, grew tired of waiting for her to return. He tried to leave his underground bunker and ended up killing a lot of researchers in this attempt.
Once he found out Asaka had been captured, he raided the kidnapper’s base, killing everyone to rescue Asaka. After returning to the facility, Asaka talked with the director, who asked her whether she’d continue being Yogiri’s guardian. Asaka had also grown attached to him, so she decided to stay with him. With this, the flashback ended, and Yogiri woke up from his sleep once again.
Once they reached the southern gate of the capital, they were stopped by the guards who asked for their identity. Yogiri introduced themselves as a sage candidate, and thanks to Celestina, their lie didn’t get caught. The guards were still doubtful, but the matter was resolved as soon as Yogiri showed them the pendant Rick had given him earlier.
Soon, the youngest son of the royal family, David, arrived there and approached them. Since they were knights of the divine king, he challenged them to a swordfight. Tomochika decided to fight him and defeated him very easily. After losing the match, he showed Yogiri and Tomochika the city before leaving.
Tomochika asked what they were going to say if their classmates asked how they survived. Instead of replying, Yogiri asked whether she was going to forgive them or not. They reached the royal palace, where the king greeted them. He told them that to qualify as a sage candidate they need to complete a mission.
