What Is Isabella’s Reward For Capturing All The Children In The Promised Neverland?

Isabella received a second chance to prove her worth to the demons. If she succeeds, she will be rewarded with freedom and something even more enticing.

The Promised Neverland season two began with Emma, Ray, and the other children escaping from the Grace Field. In the fourth episode, due to their success in getting past Isabella, the latter was imprisoned by the demons.

However, they gave her another chance to prove her worth, which she gladly accepted.

Isabella was a farm child, which should have made her more sympathetic towards the orphans she cared for.

Why would she accept the demons’ offer to find the children and resign them to their terrible fates? Of course, freedom is a major incentive, but was Isabella offered something more as a reward?

1. What is Isabella’s Reward for Capturing All the Children?

Isabella’s reward for capturing all the children is the position of Grandmother. Along with this promotion, the device within her heart will be removed, giving her unprecedented freedom.

As a child who grew up on a farm, Isabella had two options, to become a Mama on a plantation farm or be eaten by demons.

She chose the first option, and everything she did since then, i.e., giving birth to Ray, and raising “high quality” children to become demon food, was for the sake of survival.

In the latest episode, by allowing the children to escape, Isabella was imprisoned by the demons.

However, her ability to nurture “high-quality” children did not go unappreciated, and she was given one more chance to prove her worth if Sarah failed.

If Isabella succeeds in bringing back the escapees from Grace Field, the device in her heart will be removed, and she will become truly free.

In addition, the demon promised Isabella another reward, which by her reaction, was extremely enticing.

It is assumed that this reward was her promotion to a Grandmother, thus replacing Sarah.

A Grandmother in The Promised Neverland maintains a direct line of contact with the demons and acts as an overseer of all the mothers, sisters, and children in the plantation farms.

As a high-ranking human, she also has her number and tracking chip removed. This reason, along with the desire for a good quality of life, is why all Mamas highly covet the Grandmother’s position.

However, due to The Promised Neverland season two diverting from the manga, it is unknown whether the reward will stay the same.

2. Is Isabella Evil in The Promised Neverland?

SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from The Promised Neverland.

The Promised Neverland is horrifying mainly because of its dystopian setting, but a huge factor lies in the way it portrays its characters. Nothing is black and white, and everyone has their reasons for behaving in a certain manner.

Take the Mamas, for example. In the beginning, we were horrified by Isabella and Krone’s actions; however, after finding out the reason behind it, we realized that they were forced to do so to survive.

Like Emma, Norman, Ray, and thousands of other children, Mamas were farm kids too, but they just grew up and had to choose between a gruesome death and harvesting children.

While neither was a morally right choice, the latter at least ensured their life.

Isabella is not evil in The Promised Neverland despite her cruel actions. She genuinely loves the Grace Field children and wishes to give them a happy life.

After realizing that there is a way they can be saved, Isabella rebels against the Ratri Clan and the demons and is ready to lay down her life.

Initially, Isabella saw no future for the farm children, which is why, while she tried her level best to give them a happy life before their imminent death, she did not see a point in letting them escape.

Isabella believed that the children were destined to be caught up and served as food to the demons, and nothing could save them.

However, after Emma and the rest escaped, she saw hope in regaining freedom and started to actively work towards attaining it.

After being offered Grandmother’s position, Isabella used it to her advantage to rally all the mothers and sisters and betray the Ratri Clan.

Isabella’s later actions reflected her regret at treating Ray and the other children the way she did. In the end, she died at the hands of a demon while saving Emma’s life.

While this might not redeem Isabella for everything she did, ultimately, her love for the children as a Mama was genuine.

Along with the other farm kids, Isabella was a victim of the dreadful promise between the demons and the humans and is not the one to be blamed for fighting for her survival.
