Rescuing Captain Obi: Will Shinra succeed or will Obi be turned Infernal?

It shocked me when at the end of season two of Fire Force, Company 8 was branded as a terrorist, and the police arrested Captain Obi Akitaru.

After seeing that episode, I couldn’t hold back my enthusiasm and wait to learn more about the plot.

I gave in to my craving for more Fire Force pleasure, dove into the manga, and found out whether Obi will be rescued or will he be turned Infernal.

Obi Akitaru Eventually gets saved by the combined efforts of Shinra, Joker, and the rest of Company 8.

Joker Goes to Obi to eliminate all the bugs trying to turn him into an infernal and saves him from the clutches of the White Clad cult.

But why was he kidnapped, what did the white-clad cult want with him, and how did he get saved? In this article, I answer all these questions and more!

1. How was Akitaru Obi kidnapped?

Akitaru is taken into custody by Tokyo Army soldiers while delivering a mission report to the head of the Fire Defense Agency.

Obi later learns that the soldiers are working with the White Clad. Leonard Burns watches him when he is carried to the top of the prison and shackled to a post.

2. Why was Obi Arrested and Kidnapped?

Obi was taken by the white-clad cult on the orders of the Evangelist, who wanted to turn Obi into an infernal by a bug from adolla.

While Shinra and Joker were fighting against the White Clad members, Burns ordered Obi to be stung by a Bug, claiming that the Evangelist is his god, and he must follow her orders.

3. How was Obi rescued?

When the bugs cannot sting Obi properly due to his hardened body, Obi uses his raw physical strength to burst through his chains.

This feat of strength scared the White Hood guard enough for him to step away from his prisoner.

Shinra rammed Burns through the rooftop to the bottom floor while Obi flexed his muscles on the roof’s rubble. Joker returned to the rooftop as the fight ended to burn all the bug thus saving Obi.

4. About Fire Force

Fire Force is a Japanese shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Atsushi Ōkubo. The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in September 2015. The series ended in February 2022 with 34 volumes.

The story is set in a world where The Great Cataclysm has destroyed much of humanity. It has left the planet in a situation where people are susceptible to burning instantly. Tokyo Empire exists as one of the few surviving habitats where a group of humans with pyrokinetic abilities protect the people.

Shinra Kusakabe, nicknamed “Devil’s Footprints” is a young guy known for his ability to ignite his feet at will. He joins Special Fire Force Company 8, who dedicated themselves to end the Infernal attacks.
