Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Full Breakdown of the Post Credit Scene, Links to Anime, and More!

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was recently released internationally, and the film is not just a box office hit but has also attracted raving critical reviews. Well, fans of the manga aren’t surprised.

JJK 0 serves as a prequel to the events of the main story. It is based on Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High, a 4-chapter limited manga written before the main JJK series.

The movie includes the premise of JJK and acts as a solid establishment for the arcs that come after it. JJK 0 was thoroughly enjoyable for people new to the franchise, but the film, especially its post credit scene, has massively hyped JJK anime-only fans.

SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen.

Yes, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has a post credit scene that makes sense of unanswered questions from season 1, and also sets up seasons 2 and 3 of the anime.

It is just a 1-minute scene, but it hints at multiple character dynamics, future plots, and the official introduction of the movie-protagonist, Yuta Okkotsu, into the main series anime.

1. What happens in the JJK 0 post credit scene?

The post credit sequence focuses on Yuta and his (former) rival, Miguel in Kenya, Africa.

We can be sure of the location because of 1) the zebras and giraffes on the screen after the end credits, 2) the savannah setting, and 3) the Old Mutual Tower, telling of the Nairobi skyline.

Yuta and Miguel are enjoying a meal in what seems to be a buzzing location in central Nairobi. They are discussing the food, specifically a local spice called Royco, which gives the food a good “Kenyan” flavor. Just as they are complementing the beef stew, Satoru Gojo approaches them.

All he says is, “Hey, long time no see.”

2. How does the post credit scene tie in with the anime?

Yuta doesn’t make any proper appearance in the anime. But his presence is felt and his name is dropped multiple times, hinting at the fact that he will be a prominent character in the upcoming seasons. The post credit scene directly teases the moments that Yuta is mentioned in the anime.

In episode 5 of the JJK anime, Megumi mentions that Yuta, another student at Jujutsu High is overseas for a mission. In the previous episode, she had also mentioned that Gojo was out on business. This explains their encounter.

In episode 6, Gojo tells the deputy headmaster about his ambitions as a teacher, and particularly mentions 2 of his students, Hakari and Yuta. In a fleeting glimpse, we see Yuta, although his physique and clothes are different. Gojo describes him as being a first-class sorcerer who could surpass even him.

Later, in episode 14, when Gojo tells the students that Yuji is still alive, he gives them protective charms made by an African tribe.

Yuta and Miguel also make a blink-and-miss appearance in the second opening sequence of the JJK anime. They are more or less wearing the same outfits in the opening as they do in the post credit scene.

3. How does the Post Credit Scene link to the Manga?

The post credit scene specifically references chapter 145 of the JJK manga.

Yuta, who enters the main story in Itadori’s Extermination arc, right after the Shibuya Incident, is there to kill Sukuna, and as a consequence, Yuji.

This doesn’t happen, and the two end up on the same side, on the mission to stop Kenjaku’s evil plan and free Gojo from his clasps. Gojo has been sealed inside the Prison Realm for 8 days.

Megumi, Yuji, Yuta, Choso, Maki, and Yuki get in contact with Master Tengen through the Tombs of the Star. This is when Tengen mentions a certain Black Rope, which has the potential to break the Prison Realm.

It is one of the 2 only cursed tools that can cancel jujutsu and open the Prison Realm (the other cursed tool being the Inverted Spear of Heaven).

It is revealed that both these tools were destroyed in battles with Gojo. The JJK 0 movie shows one of these battles, where Miguel fights Gojo with the Black Rope, and Gojo thinks about the fact that this cursed tool could counter any jujutsu technique.

In chapter 145, Yuta says that he actually went looking for any remaining Black Rope with Miguel in Africa, but that it was a fruitless effort.

So, when Gojo approaches Yuta and Miguel in the post credit scene, Gojo is probably there to tell the pair to go looking for more Black Rope. Maybe Gojo knew he would need it sometime in the future.

4. Why is Yuta with Miguel?

Miguel was initially one of the bad guys – one of Suguru Geto’s commanders who hoped to see him as king one day.

Apparently, after the events of the Night Parade, Gojo saw how Miguel was a useful member to have on their team. His crimes were forgiven and he was forcibly recruited to help train Yuta.

They go back to Miguel’s homeland, i.e., Africa, where the vast community of sorcerers would help make Yuta strong enough.

5. Strong enough for what?

Many fans believe that Gojo knew that Yuji would need someone to look out for him. Seeing as Yuji and Yuta have many similarities, Gojo wanted Yuta to hone his jujutsu skills so he could be useful in the future.

Yuta, now one of the four Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerers, returns to Tokyo after the Shibuya Incident, when Gojo himself is trapped.

6. What does the post credit scene mean for the future of the anime?

Season 1 of JJK concluded the Death Painting arc. Itcovered the first 8 volumes, and ends with chapter 63 of the manga.

In the manga, after this comes Gojo’s Past arc, which kind of covers the events of the JJK 0 movie. It shows Yuta and Rika’s story, and gives us Geto’s plan and the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

The post credit scene would be a great segue into the next arc, which is the Shibuya Incident arc. So, there is a good chance season 2 could dive into the Shibuya Incident, and season 3 would see the return of Yuta in the Itadori’s Extermination arc.
