Is Kaido defeated for good? Is he dead? Will he return?

Kaido of the Beasts, aka the world’s strongest creature, was brought down by none other than Luffy.

Kaido was defeated by Luffy using Gear 5, his ultimate power-up, in episode 1076 of the anime or Chapter 1049 of the manga. However, we aren’t certain if he is dead, as Oda has not confirmed that.

Moreover, If Kaido is alive, he must be lurking around injured, or the World Government must have already sized him if spotted.

Let’s dive further into what actually happened.

1. Is Kaido defeated for good?

Yes, Kaido of the Hundred Beasts was defeated by Luffy using Gear 5 in episode 1076 of the anime or Chapter 1049 of the manga.

This happens at the end of theWano Country Arc after Luffy’s Devil fruit “truly” awakens. Somewhere on the rooftop of Onigashima.

Luffy possessed a truly unique devil fruit named the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika devil fruit, which was initially believed to be the Gomu Gomu no Mi.

We know that Luffy had been defeated in the past multiple times by Kaido, afterall he is known as the world’s strongest beast for nothing you know.

This time, while they were fighting on the rooftop of onigashima, kaido felt like Luffy had definitely progressed, and he even commended his strength as he hadn’t had such fun and thrill since he last fought Oden.

They were interrupted by Guernica, an agent of the CP0 acting on the world government’s orders.

Those Five Elders knew Kaidou’s defeat would have far-reaching consequences on the world’s peace.

As unfair as it sounds, Guernica swiftly pinned Luffy into place to make him get a direct hit from Kaido to finish him off. For a second, it looked like Luffy stopped breathing. Even Momonosuke noticed that.

This is where it gets exciting as Luffy’s devil fruit truly awakened, and the “drums of liberation” were heard.

Sounds heavenly, doesnt it? Luffy’s appearance looks so godly you have to check it out.

Luffy unleashed a formidable surge of Haoshoku Haki, effortlessly killing many Beast Pirates, and then he extended his huge hand to seize Kaido in his dragon form and hauled him back to the rooftop as if he were weightless.

Then he snatched Kaidou by his tail, slamming him onto the ground and swinging him around like a wrecking ball; however, Kaido was glad that Luffy survived before firing his Bolo Breath at him. Luffy deflected that like an elastic rubber balloon.

He even turned Kaido into a frickin’ jump rope using his move “Gomu Gomu no Dawn Whip or “Rubber Rubber White Whip.”

It was quite a shameless sight for the “mighty” Yonko to be thrown around like a toy.

With Gear 5 making him extremely elastic and durable, he got wrapped around Kaido’s Kanabo like slime.

Luffy was even able to snatch and launch a bolt of lightning at kaido using Gomu Gomu no Kaminari, but Kaidou dodged it and attacked Luffy, who caught another lightning bolt to spring back into action.

In their ultimate and final clash, Kaidou asked about Luffy’s vision for the world.

In reply, Luffy declares his intent to forge a world where individuals could eat as they wished.

He finished Kaido off with an attack named “Gomu Gomu no Gigant,” where he transformed his fist to the size of the island, smashing Kaidou on the earth and leaving a massive crater.

After all, for Luffy to become the pirate king and unearth One Piece, he has to accomplish an extraordinary feat like defeating a Yonko.

With this, he is on equal footing with legends like Whitebeard and Roger, if not higher.

2. Will he return?

Since Kaido has not been confirmed dead by Oda, there is a chance that he might make a comeback later on.

For now, we can rest easy as Kaido suffered detrimental damage, and since the World Government’s ships were lurking around the wano country, they might have taken him in if they caught sight of him.
