Fall of Urahara Kisuke: Exile From Soul Society

Urahara Kisuke was one of the most mysterious characters prior to Season 11 of the anime. This season mainly focused on the past of Visoreds and Urahara.

We came to know a lot about this peculiar man, his origins and how he came to be viewed as a criminal in Soul Society.

Urahara Kisuke was the captain of the 12th division and was framed as a culprit behind the Hollowification experiments by Aizen. He was arrested by Central 46 before escaping to the human world.

Events Leading To Urahara’s Exile!

Aizen conducts hollowfication experiments on Shinji, Hiyori and other members. When Aizen decides to kill Shinji, Urahara comes to the rescue and stops him.

He confronts Aizen and asks him about the situation and Aizen calmly replies by saying that he is merely helping the injured.

Urahara is obviously not fooled by Aizen’s lies, being the clever clever man he is. Aizen applauds him for being the man he always thought Urahara was.

Aizen along with Gin and Tosen start to flee, the attempts to stop them are futile as they are just too powerful.

Urahara and Tessai are interrupted by a shrill cry that comes from Shinji who has been completely hollowified. The duo decide that the safety of the hollowfied soul reapers comes first.

Urahara uses Jikanteishi to stop in the area and uses Kūkanten’i to transport the hollowified individuals to Urahara’s laboratory.

Urahara immediately explains to Tessei that Hollowification was initially an idea he came up with to make the souls more powerful.

He admits to Tessei that he wanted to break the borders between Soul Reapers and Hollows and made an object called Hogyoku.

Urahara tries to use Hogyoku to reverse the effects of Hollowification the entire night but is left unsuccessful.

During the daybreak, he finally accepts that the effects are permanent and goes out for fresh air. The two of them are immediately arrested and brought to Central 46 as prisoners.

The Decision of Central 46

Central 46 decides to strip Urahara Kisuke of all spiritual powers and exile him to the human world for conducting hollowfication experiments and causing multiple casualties.

Urahara and Tessai are brought in front of Central 46 as criminals and they both are confused about the situation.

When Urahara decides to make his concerns known, he is immediately chastised for speaking without permission.

Central 46 makes ridiculous claims saying that Urahara has performed hollowfication experiments on many soul reapers.

When Urahara retaliates by saying that Aizen was the one who performed these experiments, he is immediately labelled as a liar as they claim Aizen has never left his barracks and has multiple eyewitnesses.

Followed by Aizen’s Shikai they decide to banish Urahara after stripping him of his powers and killing Shinji and others considering them Hollows.

The Aftermath!

Urahara and Tessai are saved by a masked stranger. They escape after breaking their binds and flee from Central 46. The masked stranger is revealed to Yoruichi.

She also admits that she has saved the eight hollowfied individuals. They escape to the human world with their gigai.
