One Piece chapter 1069 spoilers were released on December 8, 2022. This issue was highly anticipated and truly lived up to the hype. We saw many great things including the return of Gear 5 Luffy.

We got to witness Lucci’s Awakened form and the fight kicked off between Lucci and Luffy. This was a great throwback to the Enies Lobby arc which was one of the best arcs to date.

This chapter also featured Dr.Vegapunk who shared with us the origin of Devil Fruits. The origins of these mysterious fruits are incredibly exciting and truly loyal to the theme of the series.

Let’s get more details about this highly anticipated chapter!

One Piece chapter 1069 reveals the new powers of Rob Lucci. Despite receiving the order to not engage Luffy, Lucci commences the battle against the Yonko. The origin of Devil Fruits is revealed by Vegapunk while Sentomaru arrives at the scene with Seraphims.

1. The ‘Pigeon Guy’

Chapter 1069 starts with Egghead Island being in chaos and various workers fleeing from Lucci. Chopper recognizes Lucci and screams in horror while Jinbe seems to be in disbelief that they are targeting Dr.Vegapunk.

Meanwhile, our dear protagonist calls Lucci,’ Pigeon Guy’ and asks him what he is doing here. Lucci obviously replies to this knucklehead by telling him that they are on Government Island.

It would make more sense for them to be on the island rather than Strawhats. Kaku tells Lucci that he cannot get into a fight with Luffy, since he is a Yonko now. They now need permission to engage Luffy, isn’t it kinda cool now?

2. Akainu Orders Lucci to Wait for Reinforcements!

The chapter cuts to Marine Headquarters and Akainu seems to be worried about the possibility of Luffy and Vegapunk cutting a deal with each other. That would be incredibly disadvantageous to the Government.

It is revealed that Kizaru has already left for Egghead as planned with reinforcements. Akainu orders Lucci to wait for the Marines and not engage with Luffy at any cost.

3. Rob Lucci’s Awakened Powers and Return of Gear 5

Even after the order to stand back, the two old enemies start the fight. Rob Lucci’s Awakened form is then revealed. He is covered with a scarf of black flames around his neck and shoulders, similar to Gear 5 Luffy.

Dr. Vegapunk comes in and asks if Nami knows the story of Luffy’s new form. She answers by saying it might be Gomu Gomu Ni’s Powers. Vegapunk reveals that there’s no such Devil Fruit mentioned in the encyclopedia which shocks the Strawhats.

He then reveals that Luffy’s Devil Fruit is actually a Mythical Zoan-type Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika. He tells that although the name of Nika has been wiped out, Nika will never cease to be until people’s desires exist.

4. Devil Fruit Origins!

Fans have truly loved the lore of Devil Fruit origins. Dr.Vegapunk explained that the Devil Fruits are truly the result of people’s desires.

He tells the Strawhats that the Devil Fruits are unnatural and hence rejected by the Sea, which is the only weakness of Devil Fruits. He exclaims by saying that the world they live in is truly wonderful.

5. Sentomaru and Seraphims Appear!

Sentomaru appears with Seraphims who are replicas of Boa, Jinbe, and Mihawk. He asks Vegapunk for orders and Vegapunk tells him to attack CP0. Initially, he seems to have reservations but ultimately decides to side with the only guy who helped him survive.

However, this situation is interrupted when Lucci uses ‘Hand Gun’ on Sentomaru leaving him gravely injured. The chapter ends with Luffy worrying about Sentomaru.

6. What to expect from the next chapters?

We can expect a huge fight in the coming few weeks. As we know, Kizaru is on his way to the island with Marine reinforcements. This will obviously lead to a big fight between the strawhats and the Marines.

And now with Sentomaru injured, we are left to wonder about his fate. We also do not know who the Seraphims will side with since Sentomaru is injured!

We can only wait patiently for Oda-sensei to bless us with his brilliance. Until then, let’s do what we do best, anticipate and theorize!
