With “gaming” becoming a popular genre, the studios have been churning out more anime of this kind. However, the quality of these anime hasn’t been excellent.
Shangri-la Frontier is an upcoming anime from the same genre, and the expectations are low on this one. The web novel this anime is based on is mediocre at best.
However, if you are a fan of the gaming genre, you can give it a go.
The official website for the television anime of Katarina’s Shangri-La Frontier web novel unveiled the second promotional video and character visuals on Friday. The anime is set to premiere on October 28, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. JST.
The second promotional video introduces some of the major characters and the world in which the anime is set. The anime will be streamed by Crunchyroll when it goes on air.
The anime will be produced by C2C, which isn’t a major studio and has been taking on minor animation parts. Shangri-la Frontier will be the studio’s first fully-fledged anime. The staff working on the anime has also been released. Here’s the list:

Shangri La Frontier is the story of the second-year high school student Rakurō Hizutome, who is single-minded, and his only goal is? Finding “shitty games” and beating them.
His gaming skills are top-notch, so when he’s introduced to the new VR game Shangri-La Frontier, he dives in head first. But Shangri-La Frontier has multiple secrets. And how our protagonist finds them out forms the crux of the story.
The series is too generic, and I highly doubt its ability to bring something new to the existing genre. But if you are looking for some entertainment like our protagonist, you should check the anime out.
