The Mushroom Protector Will be Back in Season 2 of “Sabikui Bisco”

Sabikui Bisco is not your typical Shounen anime. It skips over many of the tropes we expect from this genre. The world-building of this anime is one of the best in a very long time: Machine gun hippos? Giant mushrooms? It’s got it all!

The story is super engaging, and the main characters are neither overpowered nor weak. Rust Eater was one of the best anime that we got in 2022. The anime’s first season wrapped itself well, and fans did not expect a second season.

Fortunately, a new season has been announced, and fans are pleasantly surprised.

The second season of the anime “Sabikui Bisco” was announced at “Dengeki Bunko 30th Summer Festival Online 2023”. A celebratory illustration of the main characters, Bisco Akahoshi and Miro Nekoyanagi, holding a bow, has also been unveiled.

The finale of season 1 was by the books, nothing too unexpected, but it was still awesome. Bisco has become half rust-eater and half human due to the pipe snakes’ poison.

Milo, Pawoo, and Bisco defeat Kurokawa. Milo and Bisco start treating people with rust-eater injections, after which they decide to journey to rid Bisco of his immortality.

The anime ends with them walking away toward the sunset, and it feels like the end. But it was only the end of Volume 1, and there’s still a lot of material to be adapted.

This anime has likable characters and builds organic relationships between them. It doesn’t seem forceful nor plays too much into the “power of friendship” trope.

World-building is even better than most isekai anime and is enjoyable. It is worth watching.
