Bleach TYBW’s Casting error causes Yoruichi’s Voice Actresses some trouble

Yoruichi is one of the most popular characters from Bleach, well known for her badassery. In addition to her cat-like silhouette and athletic build, she is known for her playful and flirty voice.

Wendee Lee was the voice of Yoruichi in the original Bleach anime; however, Anairis was offered the role in the Thousand Year Blood War arc due to a series of misunderstandings. And here’s everything you need to know about this situation.

Voice actor Anairis Quiñones revealed on Twitter that she will no longer be voicing Yoruichi in the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime and her recordings for the character in the anime thus far will be replaced because “the studio and client decided to go in a different direction.”

Anairis Quiñones will continue to voice Hiyori while Lee will return to her role in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 – The Conflict.

Dubbing studio Studiopolis provided ANN with a comment. They addressed the unfortunate circumstances and the misunderstandings that led to the casting error of “Yoruichi Shihoin” in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War episode #22.

Studiopolis intended to keep as many original cast members as possible from the original anime. There was a misunderstanding that Wendee Lee was part of the list of the original cast members who weren’t available to participate in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.

This error caused the casting coordinator to offer the role to Anairis. By the time this error was recognized by the studio, episode 22 of the anime had already been released.

They apologized for the confusion and appreciated their talented voice cast.

Lee implied in several posts in Quiñones’ Tweet the following day that it was a scheduling error that led to Quiñones’ casting as Yoruichi in response to the posts made by other voice actors.

Lee tweeted, saying that Viz Media requested her to come back for the role in the anime’s third part.

Lee later posted an apology on Monday on Twitter, this time to Quiñones’ original Tweet from October 7 announcing her casting as Yoruichi.

Anairis later responded that she wasn’t ready to discuss this situation and requested to respect her privacy.

This entire situation was a result of a misunderstanding. However, this could have been avoided by not replacing Anairis following the mistake.

Well, we cannot do anything about the situation other than sending a little love to Anairis.

About Bleach

Bleach is a Japanese anime television series based on Tite Kubo’s manga of the same name. The anime series adapts Kubo’s manga but also introduces some new, original, self-contained story arcs.

It is based in Karakura Town on a 15-year-old high school student Ichigo Kurosaki who becomes a substitute Soul Reaper when Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper, puts Soul Reaper powers in Ichigo. They barely manage to kill the hollow.

Although initially reluctant to accept the heavy responsibility, he begins eliminating some more hollows and also discovers that several of his friends and classmates are spiritually aware and have powers of their own.
