Director of John Wick, Chad Stahelski, has been creating a massive buzz in the anime world. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Stahelski is designing action sequences for Shinichiro Watanabe’s Lazarus.
Recently, he has revealed some latest information that might make John Wick fans lose their minds with excitement. Here’s everything you need to know about the exhilarating news.
Director Chad Stahelski, in a discourse with the Playlist, revealed “a Japanese anime” project in the John Wick franchise and the second television series.
Stahelski, in a casual conversation with the Playlist, revealed his enthusiasm by stating:
“We are really excited about it(the television series) because we’re doing that and a Japanese anime because I love it so much. So, to create all the cool stories that anime could achieve better than we could and the TV show to expand our world, we’ll still get our fix, you know what I mean? And we’ll still have all the fun.”
Stahelski directed all four John Wick films from 2014 until now. However, he wasn’t very involved with Prime’s “The Continental”.
Stahelski also gave a little tour of his set to the creative team of the television series. This helped the newer team get a better idea of how things are done by Stahelski. The series’ creative team then took it and made it their own. He also added that the television series and the anime will likely have different plots.
Most John Wick fans had no idea Stahelski was such a huge anime fan. While many Wick-heads are excited about this new information and look forward to seeing their favorite action film animated, others seem put off by the idea.
Some fans argue they are excessively milking the title and creating numerous variations. The increasing number of projects will only take away from the excellence of the original.
While this is a valid concern, it would be interesting to see one of the most well-choreographed action films animated.
