Season 2 of Popular Idol Anime ‘Oshi no Ko’ Greenlit for 2024

Fans were eagerly waiting for an announcement of the sequel. And the Ichigo Production Fan Appreciation Festival 2023 event has revealed an exciting news.

Season 2 of ‘Oshi no Ko’ has been confirmed and a teaser visual has been released. The anime will premiere in 2024. HIDIVE will stream the second season.

The 30-second teaser features the three central characters as they voice their intentions. Aqua wants to use the stage to get closer to the truth, while Akane wants to help Aqua through her acting.

The key visual released by the official website features the titular characters Akne Kurokawa, Kana Arima, and Aquamarine Hoshino.

While the staff and cast details haven’t been released yet, the previous members will most likely return for the sequel.

Daisuke Hiramaki and Chao Nekotomi directed the anime’s first season at Doga Kobo. The first season of ‘Oshi no Ko’ covered 40 manga chapters.

The first season ended with Aqua’s grand stunt during the Japan Idol Festival. During the second performance, Aqua, who had disguised himself as a fan, stood in the crowd near the stage and waved white glow sticks for Kana.

This encouraged Kana to give her best, and this unexpected stunt by Aqua gained him fans from all over the world. The second season of the manga will focus on the 2.5D Stage Play arc.

The new arc focuses on Aqua’s attempt to know about his biological father. To get closer to the truth, Aqua joins the Lala Lai Theatrical Company as the cast for the 2.5D stage play.

About Oshi no Ko

Oshi no Ko is a supernatural crime-solving manga series written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump since April 2020 and received an anime adaptation in 2023.

The story follows a doctor, Goro, reincarnated as his favorite idol Ai’s kid. Ai names him Aquamarine and his twin sister, a reincarnation of a patient at the hospital, Ruby. Ai is later killed by a stalker who was also responsible for Goro’s death. As Aquamarine swears revenge on the stalker for his mother’s demise, Ruby follows the same path as her mother to become an idol.
