Dungeon stories generally tend to have typical plots where the raiders fight their way through to reach a grand goal. However, ‘Delicious in Dungeon’ adds an entirely new side to these dungeon stories.
It focuses on food and cooking rather than blood and gore. The anime was first announced in 2022, and now it is all set to debut after an insanely long wait period.
Kadokawa unveiled a new trailer for ‘Delicious in Dungeon’. The anime is set to premiere on January 4, 2024 worldwide on Netflix.
The brief 90-second trailer features the story of an adventure group who get into a dungeon. However, Falin faces some nutritional deficiencies and the group is now forced to consume monsters.
They soon realize that these monsters are absolutely delicious, and their dungeon adventure turns into a cooking exploration. The trailer also reveals and previews the anime’s ending theme song, “Party!!” by Ryoku Oushoku Shakai.
A new teaser visual has also been released, and it features the main characters: Falin, Laios, Marcille, Chilchuck, and Senshi as they are seen running away from a red dragon.

The anime currently has a three-week limited advance screening run in 41 cinemas in Japan that began on December 8.
‘Delicious in Dungeon’ is a great anime. I mean, what’s not to like? Who doesn’t dig a fantasy cooking anime with great cooking thirst traps? You should definitely add this to your watchlist if you are into anime food aesthetics.

Dungeon Meshi is a fantasy gourmet manga by Ryoko Kui. It started getting published in 2014. It is also licensed by Yen Press and published in English as ‘Delicious in Dungeon’. As of August 2022, 12 volumes have been released.
The story starts after a whole kingdom is sunk, and its survivor king promises his treasury to anyone who can defeat the culprit magician. Guilds are thus formed, and tons of adventures go on this journey.
The protagonist loses his sister to a dragon on one such journey and promises to bring her back. On his way, he and his party need to survive by cooking monsters inside the dungeon.
