Riverdale fans, are you ready for another thrilling episode of your favorite show?
The seventh season of Riverdale has taken us on a wild ride through the 1950s, where Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) is stuck in a time loop, and the rest of the gang is dealing with the consequences of a communist witch hunt.
Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming episode, airing on July 12.
1. Season 7, Episode 14 Synopsis/Speculation
Next week’s episode is titled “Chapter One Thirty-One: The Catcher in the Rye.” The official synopsis states:
Jughead makes a shocking discovery that could change everything; Betty and Veronica team up to expose a sinister plot; Archie and Frank face a dangerous enemy.
What could Jughead discover that could alter his fate? Could it relate to the mysterious comic book he and Ethel (Shannon Purser) have been reading? And who is the enemy that Archie (K.J. Apa) and Frank (Ryan Robbins) have to confront? Is it someone from their past or someone new?
Meanwhile, Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) are on a mission to uncover the truth behind the communist accusations plaguing Riverdale High.
In the previous episode, we saw that Mrs. Thornton (Teryl Rothery), their beloved English teacher, was arrested for being a suspected communist. Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) was also blackmailed by her parents to out gay students or lose her power over the Vixens.
Will Betty and Veronica be able to expose the mastermind behind this scheme and save their friends?

4. Where to Watch Riverdale
5. Riverdale Season 7 Episode 13 Recap
In this episode, Riverdale is gripped by fear and paranoia as Mrs. Thornton, Archie’s favorite teacher, is accused of being a communist and removed from her job. Archie is devastated and tries to find his voice as a poet, inspired by The Crucible, a play about the Salem witch trials.
Meanwhile, Cheryl’s father forces her to out gay students at Riverdale High or risk losing power over the Vixens. Cheryl struggles with her own sexuality and her feelings for Toni.
The episode explores the themes of the power of words, accusations, and betrayals in the context of the 1950s. Hiram Lodge, a famous TV star and Veronica’s father, returns to Riverdale and reveals his involvement in Mrs. Thornton’s downfall.
He also tries to manipulate Julian, his son and Betty’s boyfriend, into becoming a star like him. Betty and Jughead investigate the communist witch hunt and discover that Hiram is working with a corrupt senator. They expose his scheme and clear Mrs. Thornton’s name.
Archie delivers a powerful monologue as John Proctor in The Crucible and decides to pursue his passion for writing. Cheryl comes out as bisexual and kisses Toni on stage, defying her father.
6. About Riverdale
Based on a story from the popular Archies Comics, the 2017 Netflix drama Riverdale is centered on an innocent, small town of the same name.
It follows a group of high school students who are shocked by the death of a classmate, Jason Blossom. Together they unravel the secrets of Riverdale and who killed Jason.
Cole Sprouse’s grungy Jughead is the show’s narrator and school reporter who almost acts like its ‘Gossip Girl’ — documenting the characters’ lives and filling in the blanks for us.
