How I Met Your Father S2 E19 Release Date, Recap, and Speculation

How I Met Your Father has almost reached the end of its second season, and things are spicing up between the protagonists.

Jesse has found himself a new girlfriend, and things seem to have taken off pretty well. However, ‘Shady Parker’ has some other plans. What are they? Let’s find out!

1. Episode 19 Synopsis/Speculation

Next week’s episode is titled “Shady Parker,” which hints that it will feature a lot of Jesse’s new girlfriend, Parker. Jesse started seeing his colleague, Parker, a couple of episodes ago, and they sort of clicked. In the last episode, Jesse mentions that they are doing amazing and are finally exclusive. 

Since the upcoming episode is titled “Shady Parker,” it could mean that we will discover something about Parker that will be shady. Perhaps she is cheating on Jesse behind his back or something else that she has been planning for a while. 

However, knowing such sitcoms and their fun tracks well, there’s more than half a chance that it won’t be something that serious. 

The gang will probably discover something ridiculous about her, and Jesse being the overthinker he is, will make a big deal out of it. 

Remember how the gang in HIMYM discovered Robin’s popstar era? It could be something silly and fun like that. 

Moreover, it is clear that the episode will feature a lot of Jesse. Since in the latest episode, Jesse decides to move out and give Sid and Hannah their own space; we could see Jesse moving in somewhere else in this episode. We might also see Hannah moving in with Sid after returning to New York.

Nothing much is happening with Sophie and Val right now. However, from her reactions to Parker in the last episode, we realize that she still has feelings for him. There’s a chance we see some progress in this regard, especially if Parker’s ‘shady’ business turns out to be something serious and Jesse ends up breaking up with her. 

This is perhaps an unpopular opinion, but Parker and Jesse continuing to date would be a better future track for the series since Jesse has not had a single serious relationship till now. 

It even took Robin Scherbatsky from HIMYM, the Ted and Victoria track, to realize her love for him. Minus the cheating bit, HIMYF can take a similar route. 

Ellen and Charlie decided to continue living together in the last episode, so we will see them continue that way in the upcoming episode as well. Like all episodes of HIMYF, this, too, will have a lot of funny gigs and the gang doing ridiculous stuff. However, it is difficult to expect some progress in terms of the story since not much progress can be seen in the last few episodes.

Sophie and Valentina try setting Sophie’s parents up by inviting them to dinner, only to see them kissing and making out.

Meanwhile, Ellen and Hannah have some living issues, as Sid wants to live alone with Hannah. So, they try to convince Charlie and Jesse to move in together by setting them up for a sleepover.

However, the sleight of hand doesn’t go unnoticed as Charlie and Jesse confront them for pushing them away.

An upset Sophie goes to Jesse’s room and complains about her parents. She thinks that they are pushing her away. He comforts her, after which all four-make peace with one another.

Sophie later gets a text about a game night but decides not to go upon seeing Parker there.

7. About How I Met Your Father

How I Met Your Father (HIMYF) is a spinoff series of the incredibly successful CBS show, How I Met Your Mother. The original show ran for nine seasons, from 2005 to 2014, quickly making its mark with a dedicated cult-like fanbase.

HIMYF was announced to start production in April 2021 with the Lizzy McGuire star Hilary Duff playing the lead called Sophie, narrating her journey to her children in the future.

The show’s flashbacks will start from Sophie and her close friends navigating love, life and struggles in the modern era of dating, paying bills and more, in 2021.

Created by writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger of This Is Us fame and directed by the original show’s director, Pamela Fryman, the first season of HIMYF is revealed to have 10 episodes. No further details have yet been released.
