Early Barbie Reviews are up, and It Lives Up to the Massive Hype!

The early reviews for Barbie have been released, and it looks fantastic for the princess in pink!

Directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the film is based on a screenplay by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach and will hit theaters on July 21. It tells the story of Barbie and Ken, who leave Barbie Land and explore the real world after Barbie is banished for not conforming to her society’s ‘ideal’ standards.

The film had its ‘pink’ carpet premiere recently, and the first reviews have already been posted online. Although spoiler-free, the reviews praise the film’s humor, witty narrative, and the social message it subtly delivers.

So, if you were thinking of skipping the pink extravaganza for Nolan’s Oppenheimer, well, think again!

#Barbie: was a deeply cathartic experience. It’s about industrialization of art/iconography forming sensibility instead of individualism, and Greta tells it with so much joy and heart. I was cackling at Gosling’s himbo Ken one scene and bawling my eyes out at the next. A classic

However, not all reviewers are a hundred percent sold on the film. They think that it could have been polished even further, but what’s art without a dash of constructive criticism, right?

#BarbieOverall, isn’t the home run I was hoping for, or that I think it needs to be given the topics it’s tackling, but it’s still a well made, bold film with a VERY strong voice and vision, one that often made me think, HOW does this movie exist? And that right there is almost always a quality in a film that will win me over.

#Barbie: is a triumph. A pitch-perfect script backed by great performances — particularly from Ryan Gosling — turns what could be a simple studio comedy into a sharp commentary on our society that makes its nuance palatable for those that may not take it at face value. GG is 3/3.

#BarbieGreta Gerwig’s is an ABSOLUTE marvel of a film. She is able to infuse this simple story with so much emotion, excitement, and comedy. Her style shines bright. Margot Robbie and gosling shine brighter then the sun, this is such a great movie. The hype is REAL.

#Barbie: is a cinematic triumph. Gerwig is at the top of her game here, she’s crafted a film that’s not only gorgeous to look at, but poignant, clever and hilarious. Margot Robbie delivers an endearing and memorable performance, though it’s Gosling who stole every scene he was in

#BarbieI saw early months ago so I can finally talk about it. If you expect this movie to be more than meets the eye, than you are correct. Now while it is silly and campy, it’s also mature, very meta and goes to places I was not expecting Greta to take it.

Barbie was already expected to win big at the box office because of its epic clash with Cristopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, and the positive early reviews are like a cherry on the cake.

The juxtaposition of the two films has inspired many memes on social media, primarily because of the severe clash of color themes. Since the critic reviews are also favorable, we expect the film to score high on Rotten Tomatoes too.

Barbie’s first weekend is predicted to earn between $70 million and $80 million, and the early reactions could increase public interest, leading to an even bigger collection.

With some luck, Barbie is expected to outperform these numbers, given the exponential hype surrounding the two films. If that happens to be true, Barbie will quickly enter the list of 2023’s top 20 movies.

So, save your date for July 21, as two juggernauts of Hollywood look to clash in an epic weekend!
