Epic Dope sci-fi junkies, your tantalizing wait is over, and Foundation season 2 is finally streaming on Apple TV+!
Season 1 was exceptionally complex, filled with mind-bending ideas of dystopian galaxies, end-of-existence crises, and a barrage of cloned emperors trying to become unrivaled dictators.
If you have come here without watching season 1, oh boy, it will be a bumpy ride! This is because Foundation’s ‘foundation’ is full of world-building and complicated plotlines, and season 1 explains them in great detail.
Thankfully, season 2 is not that complex and builds on the base its predecessor already created. It will focus on the bigger events that will determine the fate of the Foundation and humanity’s future. This is particularly true for the pilot, as it focuses only on a few familiar characters and teases the events that will drive the canoe in season 2.

Let’s start with the flawed one, shall we?
Season 2 begins over a century after the season 1 finale, where we discover that the Cleon dynasty’s genetic purity was sabotaged generations ago, and all the clones resulting from it are not identical.
This revelation seems to have deeply impacted Brother Day, who is seriously considering ending the dynasty altogether in the season 2 pilot. Turns out, he is planning to replace his genetic clones and procreate in the ‘old-fashioned’ way.
This is huge because it proves that Seldon’s warning about the end of humanity and the news of gene tampering has finally started to run riots in the emperor’s mind.
This is also proven by the fact that he runs around naked for most of the episode and is seen having sex with Demerzel, his humanesque android bot, who is both his advisor, butler, teacher, and ‘mother figure’ (Game of Thrones vibes, anyone?)
A comedic sequence of events follows where some assassins attack him, and we see him pulling off insane fighting sequences while butt naked.
These point to the fact that season 2 will be very different from the severe and complex demeanor of season 1 and will not refrain from using informal ways for comic relief.
Before Day can even brainstorm and find out who tried to kill him, another disaster strikes. A dead body is discovered in space, bearing the message that confirms that the Foundation is very much alive and is forming alliances with other planets and galaxies to make a grand comeback in the near future!
As a season 1 refresher, Hari Seldon and his Foundation were allowed to leave unharmed by the Empire on the condition that they’d be making a massive encyclopedia. However, they seem to be building a civilization to eventually dethrone the grand Empire.
Elsewhere, on Terminus, the once-shambled city has grown into a flourishing civilization. Although we don’t know much about the city, we know about the Vault, where Hari Seldon has left a digital copy of his brain.
The Vault seems to be activating again, which means the Second Crisis is knocking at the door. Perhaps, a deadly war with the Empire!
As for Hari Seldon, he’s back from the grave! Turns out, he was trapped inside the Prime Radiant for a century, where he had nothing to do but think of great monologues about the impending doom and contemplate his past mistakes. Moreover, the Prime Radiant has somehow become his wife (taking love where you live to a whole new level).
We don’t get time to think about the logic behind this as Hari leaves his cage immediately. He is livid with Gaal Dornick, who’s responsible for imprisoning him for over a century.
However, Dornick discovers that Seldon’s psychohistory predictions are way off, and humanity’s future has deviated from the calculations he made years back! If they don’t do anything now, humanity will head towards a catastrophic future that will ruin everything and initiate a never-ending age of darkness!
