If you are a fan of dark comedy, mystery, and true crime podcasts, you are in for a treat, as Only Murders in the Building season 3 is just on the horizon! The hit Hulu series follows the three unlikely musketeers as they try to solve very peculiar murders in an upscale New York City complex, the Arconia.
Created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, the show stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as the oddball trio that goes around solving crimes in peculiar ways.
The first two seasons got an incredible reception from fans and critics alike (Who wouldn’t like two old men and Selena Gomez solving murders for fun?) and earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

1. Mark Your Calendars: The Arconia is Reopening Soon
The good news is that we won’t have to wait too long for our amateur sleuths to return, as the Arconia opens for the premiere of season 3 on August 8, 2023.
The first two seasons also released in August and July of 2021 and ’22, respectively. If you haven’t caught up on those two, head over to Hulu immediately and start now!
2. OMITB Season 3 Cast: Meet the New & Returning Faces of Arconia
The leading trio, featuring Steve Martin (Charles-Haden Savage), Selena Gomez (Mabel Mora), and Martin Short (Oliver Putnam), will be back to rule the roost in season 3 of OMITB.
Charles-Haden Savage is a former TV actor who starred in a popular detective show called Brazzos. Nowadays, he’s retired from acting and only wants to be a detective in real life. Meanwhile, Oliver Putnam is an eccentric Broadway director whose career is in shambles after a series of flops. He comes up with the idea of the “Only Murders in the Building’ podcast. Finally, Mabel Mora is a mysterious woman with an uncanny connection to Arconia’s past (no spoilers!).
As for other returning characters, Amy Ryan won’t be back as Jan Bellows, nor will Nathan Lane as Teddy Dimas. However, Jane Lynch could return as Sazz Pataki.
Selena’s Twitter posts also suggest that Andrea Martin will return for season 3 as Charles’ make-up artist and an on-and-off-lover.
However, the most notable addition to the cast is the three-time Oscar-winning legend, Meryl Streep. Selena Gomez’s Twitter account is our source again, as she posted a video from the sets of OMITB featuring Streep in January.
Details about Streep’s character are being kept under wraps for now, and we can’t wait to find out what role she plays!
Another big name joining the show is Paul Rudd, who first appeared as Ben Glenroy in the Season 2 finale.
Rudd will reprise his role in Season 3, and we can expect quirky debacles from his weird interactions with Oliver and the rest of the cast, just like in Season 2.
Other new cast members include Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy), who will play a documentarian with a particular interest in the case, and Ashley Park (Emily in Paris), who will play Kimber, a Broadway ingenue.
We also expect the return of Tina Fey and Cara Delevingne. However, that is only a speculation and not confirmed yet.

Ben Glenroy’s death on stage laid the cornerstone for season 3’s plot in last season’s finale. We expected a continuation of the debacle, and season 3’s trailer proved us right. The trailer reveals some tantalizing hints, such as Ben’s disdain for Loretta’s acting skills and Oliver’s questionable safety standards on the set. It also shows Ben having a heated argument with Charles before his death.
