Meg 2: The Trench Trailer Breakdown: This Summer’s Biggest Shark Attack!

Do you think monsters only exist as fire-breathing lizards and intelligent monkeys? Well, guess again. This time, dive a little deeper into the deepest bottoms of the ocean.

Our very own Jonas Taylor does exactly that for the second time in Meg 2: The Trench and learns about the primordial ruler of the seas the hard way. If you enjoyed 2018’s The Meg, you will surely love its sequel. Meg 2: The Trench as it promises to be bigger, better, and more thrilling than ever. Also, it has three megs instead of one. So, thrice the adrenaline? Of course!

The final trailer for Meg 2 has just been released, and those two minutes and fourteen seconds are enough to make you want to watch the film immediately. Check it out below:

However, the T-Rex is quickly shown its place when a colossal Megladon appears out of nowhere and munches on it like a dog chewing on a bone.

In the previous trailers, we see how the evolution and history of the megs will be touched on in the upcoming film. The trailer is set 65 million years ago, and we come across a small reptile eating a mosquito, which is subsequently consumed by bigger animals before a giant T-Rex seems to end the food chain.

The latest trailer opens with Zhang Kai and Jonas Taylor in a submarine, prepared to dive into the ocean’s greatest depths for an exploratory mission.

We all know about the fearless deep-sea diver Jonas Taylor from the first film, and this time, Wu Jing joins him as Zhang Kai, a Chinese marine biologist. Together, they will face not one but three of these marine monstrosities.

The 2-minute clip shows the entire crew of submarines landing inside the trench and discovering a completely new and flourishing ecosystem inside. However, they soon meet the apex predator as a panoramic shot of the sea from the vessel shows the mighty meg floating lazily in its own fauna.

Catastrophe follows in the very next scene as we see the megalodon wreaking havoc on the crew’s vessel. However, we don’t know what triggered it. Does it have something to do with the people inside?

Will we see an Avatar-esque plot where nefarious capitalists try to extract energy from the trench for their own lucrative needs?

Meg 2: The Trench

The scene cuts to a beach, where we see a gigantic octopus wrapping its tentacles around a bridge and trying to catch an escaping helicopter. Does it also belong to the trench ecosystem?

We think something triggers the organisms of the trench to rise to the ocean’s surface. When that happens, expect nothing but widespread destruction!

Finally, the trailer shows us some stunning visuals and locations the film will feature. We see the KSTAR facility, a state-of-the-art underwater research station where Zhang and his team conduct experiments.

We also get a glimpse of the trench itself. This vast and mysterious underwater canyon harbors many secrets along with some of the exotic marine life on Earth, such as bioluminescent fish, giant squids, and of course, the Megs themselves.

The pre-historic adventure is set to hit theaters on August 3, 2023. Mark the date, and don’t miss out on some megalodon madness! Ciao.
