Everything You Need to Know about Loki S2 Trailer: A Glitch in Time!

Throughout the pages of the Marvel comics, Loki has caused a lot of trouble, both on and off Asgard. After all, he is the God of Mischief!

Loki’s priorities have always been fueled by his inferiority complex and sheer whimsicality, and this has coerced him towards many dodgy maneuvers in the past, like stealing the Infinity Stone or plotting to kill his own brother.

However, Disney Plus’ Loki season 1 has been the best way to explore his essence in the MCU and find answers to many unsolved riddles about one of the most controversial characters in the franchise.

After the bombastic end to season 1, we are finally on the brink of season 2’s release, with a trailer already at our disposal.

With everything going multiversal, Loki and Mobius are even more desperate to find answers. Will they succeed?

Let’s dissect the trailer bit by bit to find out!

1. A Completely New Character Emerges

The trailer opens with an extended sequence featuring an interaction between Loki, Mobius, and an entirely new character called Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan).

The setting is that of a messy workshop, and our poor Loki suddenly glitches out of existence.

Ouroboros identifies that as ‘time-slipping,’ but he doesn’t know how to fix it! This new multiversal mechanic guy will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in season 2.

2. Sylvie is a McDonald’s Worker?

We anticipate many unexpected things in Loki season 2, but his rogue variant working at a McDonald’s is certainly not one of them.

The infamous Sylvie from last season comes back as a McDonald’s worker in the trailer. However, on close inspection, we realize that five Miss Minutes clocks are disguised as a five-star rating in her uniform.

Season 1 showed Miss Minutes being faithful to He Who Remains. What if she trapped Sylvie to be a McDonald’s worker forever? It doesn’t get much worse than this for a God’s variant, does it?

3. Who is Zaniac?

Zaniac | Source: YouTube

The trailer shows a scene at the movie theater, where a poster titled ‘Zaniac’ hangs above the marquee. So, who is this Zaniac?

Zaniac was first introduced in Thor #319 by Doug Moench, Keith Pollard, Brett Breeding, George Roussos, and Diana Albers.

In that issue, Brad Wolfe plays a blood-craving creature called Zaniac. However, an explosion connected to the Manhattan Project transforms him into a host of mythical creatures.

Zaniac’s mention can hint at many things in the underbelly of the MCU. Loki is known to play with history. Will he repeat it in season 2?

4. Jet Skis Are Back!

Mobius’ unparalleled love for jet skis is a secret to none. There’s nothing wrong with loving jet skis, but we think that some latent reason pulls him towards these machines. It looks like season 2 will finally answer this question!

In the trailer, Loki lands at Piranha Powersports at one point while glitching through time. This one-shot feature a lot of jet skis, which is undoubtedly a reference to Mobius.

Is this a hint that season 2 will explore Mobius’ origins? Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

5. Did Loki 2’s Trailer Drop a Circus of Crime Reference?

In the trailer, Loki and Mobius are on a time-traveling mission to the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. They have to stop some sinister threat that could destroy the world as we know it. However, what’s with the creepy clowns and the weird crowd? Could this be the work of the Circus of Crime?

In Marvel Comics, the Circus of Crime is a group of villains who use their circus skills and mind-control devices to rob and kill unsuspecting people.

They are led by Fritz Tiboldt, a former Nazi who hates America. They have previously clashed with Thor, Captain America, and other Marvel heroes. Can they match the cunning and charm of Loki, the God of Mischief?

6. Casey is a Full-Fledged Murderer Now

Season 2 will show us a very different Casey than the one we are used to from season 1. He was a simple desk clerk at the TVA who collected Infinity Stones as paperweights.

However, after Kang’s takeover of the TVA, he became “Hunter K-5E,” a title that suggests nefarious intentions.

We can see Casey in the trailer, walking in a dark street with two shadowy figures following him. It’s hard to tell what’s happening, but the scene looks shady and precarious.

Assuming he is still on the TVA’s side, he could be working to hunt Loki down. Conversely, he could also work with Loki’s variants to take down Kang’s new regime.

7. Miss Minutes’ Got a Promotion?

In Loki, season 1, Miss Minutes is introduced as an AI program created by the TVA to spread its propaganda.

She acts as the mascot of the Time Variance Authority and spreads false cheer to keep the members of the TVA and the ones trapped inside it active.

However, she might’ve gotten a promotion because none of her duties involve changing into a giant digital kaiju and terrorizing the world.

Does this mean that she will play a pivotal role in season 2? Well, it’s debatable because the makers might deliberately make her more prominent in the trailer to misdirect the fans. This also explains why Kang gets so little screen time in the trailer. However, this version of Miss Minutes is cool to watch!
