Shayna Baszler Defeats Rhonda Rousey with Iconic Move in SummerSlam 2023

On Saturday, WWE SummerSlam witnessed the ultimate clash between former allies and tag team partners Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey.

The match was one of the most anticipated clashes of the event, but it turned out to be a little weird and somewhat frustrating for the crowd.

Ultimately, Baszler emerged victorious by making Rousey tap out to the Kirifuda Clutch, a submission hold she mastered in her MMA career.

Rousey and Baszler were part of a close-knit group of UFC fighters who also shared a passion for pro wrestling, along with Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke. They called themselves The Four Horsewomen, a homage to the legendary wrestling faction. The match at SummerSlam paid tribute to their MMA roots, and the entire game was played in MMA style.

The crowd was bursting with excitement as the two fighters took the ring, each with their MMA gloves on. The showdown began with a flurry of strikes and takedowns as both women showcased their grappling skills. Rousey tried to lock in an armbar, but Baszler narrowly escaped and landed a leg kick that stunned Rousey.

Baszler followed that up with a near-death blow, i.e., a vicious head kick that dropped Rousey to the mat. She tried to finish the game early, but Rousey wasn’t easy to push away. She recovered sooner than Baszler had fathomed, taking her down with a double leg. They scrambled on the ground, exchanging punches and elbows, while the fans grew restless by the minute.

The action picked up when Rousey knocked Baszler down with a right hand, but the ref gave Baszler time to recover. However, Rousey attacked Baszler in the corner, completely ignoring the doctors.

They resumed their fight in the center of the ring, where Baszler hit a suplex and applied a rear naked choke. Rousey countered with an armbar, but Baszler reversed it into an ankle lock.

Rousey finally switched to a rear naked choke, but was herself trapped in an ankle lock. She tried to fight until the very end, but Baszler’s grip was too much for her. The ref called for the bell, ending this bizarre match between two former allies.
