1. Season 3, Episode 3 Synopsis/Speculation
The next episode will begin with Charles and Mabel escaping Gregg’s basement. In episode 2, they are kidnapped by Greg, who claims to be Ben’s security guard but is actually a super-fan with a creepy shrine of Ben.
Why does Gregg try to force a false confession from Mabel and Charles? Is he trying to hide some nefarious motive behind the mask of a super-fan?
Oliver’s son Will might also be involved in Ben’s murder. Will works as a stagehand in the play and tries to reconnect with his father in episode 2. However, Oliver discovers a bloody knife in Will’s backpack in the trailer. Will is undoubtedly hiding something.
Is it as straightforward as him being the murderer? Or is it something more twisted?
Another major appearance I expect from next week’s episode is that of Cinda Canning. In season 3’s trailer, we see Cinda Canning meeting Charles, Oliver, and Mabel at a diner, telling them that they are not real podcasters. She also says that she knows something they don’t know about Ben’s murder.
Cinda Canning will be a formidable rival for the trio and may have some clues or secrets that could help or hinder their investigation.

As they pay their last respects to Ben, the trio is relegated to the sidelines. Mabel encounters Gregg, a huge admirer of Ben, and hopes he can shed some light on Ben’s death.
However, she and Charles soon realize that Gregg has a twisted fixation on Ben, and he knocks them out and kidnaps them. Mabel confides in Charles that Ben’s murder hits close to home for her, as his show helped her cope with her father’s passing, while Charles divulges that his clash with Ben during the play rehearsals stemmed from him accidentally getting Ben fired from Brazzos when he was a child star.
Gregg tries to force Charles and Mabel into confessing their role in Ben’s death until the cops show up and take him away as the prime suspect.
Meanwhile, Oliver runs into a critic at the funeral, who reveals that she will slam his play. This triggers a mild cardiac arrest in Oliver, which he conceals from Charles and Mabel, and inspires him to transform his play into a musical.
Mabel persuades Charles and Oliver to join her in pursuing Ben’s true killer and documenting their investigation in a podcast, which they eventually agree to.
