Interview with the Vampires S2 Resumes Filming After AMC & SAG Reach a Deal

AMC has finally come to a truce with SAG-AFTRA after a cold war over remuneration and working conditions for Hollywood actors and writers that lasted for many months. This means that Interview with the Vampire season 2 can finally resume filming after a barrage of delays.

Adapted from Anne Rice’s iconic 1976 novel of the same name, the series chronicles the transformation of Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) into a vampire, catalyzed by his entanglement with Lestat de Lioncourt(Sam Reid). The episodes revolve around Louis recounting his vampiric saga to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).

Following the success of season 1 on AMC, the show has been renewed for a second season.

According to Deadline, AMC Networks have reached an agreement with SAG-AFTRA to resume filming of Interview with the Vampire season 2.

The filming had already started in Prague in this year’s April but came to an abrupt halt after the onset of the industry-wide walkout.

However, all AMC shows didn’t get the green light. This show, The Walking Dead spin-offs Daryl Dixon and The Ones Who Live, are the only three AMC shows to be approved by SAG-AFTRA, while the future of other creatives remains undetermined.

The AMC show, however, is not the only adaptation of the popular Rice novel. In 1994, Neil Jordan directed a movie with the same title, featuring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in the protagonist roles. This film achieved box office success, grossing over $223 million.

Nevertheless, the AMC show has proven to be a formidable contender in popularity, surpassing the original movie’s Rotten Tomatoes score by a considerable margin.

Moreover, Interview with the Vampires earned a season 2 renewal even before season 1 premiered because of the positive response received by the early teasers and AMC’s faith in its reception. In an era where shows are getting canceled left and right, this renewal highlights AMC’s confidence in the gothic horror show.

As of now, no release date has been decided for Interview with the Vampires season 2, and the plot details are also under wraps. Most of the show is expected to be set in Europe, and Jacob Anderson will presumably return to play Louis.

Without many hints from the makers, predicting where the show will be headed in season 2 is very difficult. Nevertheless, AMC has access to additional source material from Anne Rice’s novels, including “The Vampire Lestat” and “The Queen of the Damned,” providing ample content for potential adaptation.
