Actor Vanessa Hudgens recently had a heartwarming reunion with her High School Musical co-star and best friend, Monique Coleman, 15 years after the iconic trilogy’s release.
Back in 2006, the musical-comedy, directed by Kenny Ortega, took the world by storm and left an indelible mark on pop culture.
In the series, Hudgens played Gabriella, the bookish newcomer to East High who falls head over heels for the school’s star athlete, Troy Bolton (portrayed by Zac Efron). Together, they embark on a journey to audition for the school’s spring musical. On the other hand, Coleman played Taylor McKessie, Gabriella’s loyal best friend and captain of the Scholastic Decathlon Team, who was committed to preserving the status quo.
Fast forward to today, these besties reunited to celebrate the launch of Vanessa Hudgens’ exciting new business venture.

Vanessa and Monique posed together as the pair came together for the launch of Vanessa’s new beverage line. They have been very close friends ever since their High School Musical days, and the bond continues to this day!
The High School Musical series brought in a whopping $4 billion globally during its initial five-year run, proving to be a huge success for both Vanessa Hudgens and Monique Coleman.
However, their paths in Hollywood diverged a bit after this monumental achievement. While both continued to pursue acting, Hudgens ventured into more mature roles, distancing herself from Disney’s squeaky-clean image. She took on challenging parts in films like Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers (2012), featuring fellow former Disney star Selena Gomez. Hudgens also gravitated towards grittier projects like Gimme Shelter (2013) and Sucker Punch (2011).
More recently, she’s been recognized for her roles in Netflix’s The Princess Switch (2018) series.
On the other hand, Coleman embraced her Disney roots by taking on roles like A Christmas Dance Reunion, where she shared the screen once again with her former High School Musical co-star, Corbin Bleu.
Moreover, to the delight of fans, Coleman made her official comeback to the High School Musical world in Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, appearing in the fourth and final season of the spin-off show.
Sadly, Vanessa Hudgens didn’t return to East High in the spin-off series.
However, she did pay a visit to the real-life filming location of High School Musical in Salt Lake City last year and shared her nostalgia through an Instagram post, striking the iconic jumping pose in front of the school.
While it may be unlikely for Hudgens and Corbin Bleu to reunite on-screen as their characters, it’s evident that they’ll remain lifelong friends thanks to the unforgettable franchise.
