Saw X Mid-Credit and End-Credit Scenes Explained

Are you ready for another twisted tale of the mad mastermind John Kramer? Saw X brings him back to the big screen in his most prominent role yet, as the movie reveals how he became the notorious Jigsaw!

The movie is a prequel that takes place before most of the other Saw installments. However, that doesn’t mean that the film doesn’t do anything to predict the future of the notorious Saw franchise.

Saw X is not just a trip down memory lane but also a setup for more sequels to come. The movie has some surprises and connections to the other Saw movies, both past and future.

For the first time ever, a Saw film has a post-credits scene that teases what’s next for the franchise. Don’t miss it if you want to see how Saw X links to a possible Saw 11.

The post-credits scene is a new feature for the Saw movies, and it surely makes us leave the theaters with something extra!

Saw X has another special surprise for its fans: a mid-credits scene that is the first of its kind in the Saw series. The scene starts after some of the credits have rolled and reveals more about the movie’s plot and characters. It also ties in with the rest of the Saw saga in a big way.

No spoilers here, but let’s just say that the scene will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about John Kramer and Amanda, who return from the dead in the film.

If you love Saw, you don’t want to skip the end credits. Those few seconds connect Saw X to the larger Saw universe in a seamless and unexpected way.

Considering that the movie brings back John Kramer and Amanda, the scene has much potential to tease where the series will go next. The post-credits scene links to stories you already know and opens the door for new adventures too!

The mid-credits reveal a shocking twist: Detective Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) is back, and a new game is started. The scene takes us back to the original Saw room, where John Kramer has chained up Henry Kessler (Michael Beach), the same Kessler who conned John with Cecilia Pederson. Henry is the next victim of Jigsaw’s traps, and he has a device on his chest that will activate soon.

Saw X cleverly hints at Hoffman’s return throughout the movie. We hear John talking to a detective early on, which suggests that Hoffman is involved in his plan. Later, we hear Mandylor’s voice in another conversation with John. These clues tease Hoffman’s presence in the movie, and the mid-credits scene delivers on that promise. It shows us how Hoffman was learning from John before he took over as Jigsaw. The scene also sets up a new game to test Henry’s will to live.

Saw X leaves the door open for Saw 11 to continue the twisted saga of John Kramer and his apprentices. The post-credits scene hints that Saw 11 will be another prequel that shows how John tracked down the people involved in Cecilia’s scams, which lasted for eight years.

This would give John and Hoffman more victims to test and punish for their crimes. It would also deepen the personal connection that John had with Cecilia, who was his first love.

Saw 11 could explore how Amanda and Hoffman competed for John’s approval and how Hoffman secretly manipulated Amanda’s fate. By setting Saw 11 before the events of Saw III, the franchise can use Saw X’s mid-credits scene as a springboard to dive into the complex relationships between John, Amanda, and Hoffman.

About Saw X

Saw X is a 2023 American horror film directed and edited by Kevin Greutert and written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger. The film is the tenth installment overall in the Saw film series and serves as both a direct sequel to Saw (2004) and a prequel to Saw II (2005).

The film stars Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith reprising their roles from the previous films, with Synnøve Macody Lund, Steven Brand, Michael Beach, and Renata Vaca in recurring roles.

Set between the events of the first two films, John Kramer (played by Bell) travels to Mexico in hopes an experimental procedure may cure him. Before long, however, the operation is proven to be a hoax, leading him to another elaborately grotesque murder spree on the scammers.
