The Creator’s third act drops a bombshell: Alphie, the A.I. child, is actually based on Joshua’s biological son with his wife, Maya!
Maya is the genius behind Alphie’s creation and also the mysterious Creator who was presumed dead at the beginning of the film. Maya was carrying Joshua’s baby when she supposedly died, leaving him heartbroken and alone.
However, she survived and used her brilliant mind to create Alphie, an A.I. sim that resembles her unborn child. Alphie recognizes Maya as its mother and thus deeply connects with Joshua as his father.
However, the bond is more than just emotional. Maya scanned her embryo and used the results to architect Alphie. That makes the A.I. sim Joshua’s true child (at least, almost so).

She planned to use Alphie to destroy NOMAD, a deadly U.S. space station, and bring peace to both sides. This makes Alphie’s creation a powerful symbol of Maya’s vision and love for Joshua.
