The Creator’s third act drops a bombshell: Alphie, the A.I. child, is actually based on Joshua’s biological son with his wife, Maya!

Maya is the genius behind Alphie’s creation and also the mysterious Creator who was presumed dead at the beginning of the film. Maya was carrying Joshua’s baby when she supposedly died, leaving him heartbroken and alone.

However, she survived and used her brilliant mind to create Alphie, an A.I. sim that resembles her unborn child. Alphie recognizes Maya as its mother and thus deeply connects with Joshua as his father.

However, the bond is more than just emotional. Maya scanned her embryo and used the results to architect Alphie. That makes the A.I. sim Joshua’s true child (at least, almost so).

The Creator begins with Joshua infiltrating a secret base to locate the mysterious A.I. leader, who he thought was Maya’s father. He married Maya as part of his mission, but he ended up falling for her. The film begins with Joshua and his team storming the village searching for the Creator, and Maya seemingly dies in that fiasco.

Later, Harun reveals to Joshua that Maya had created Alphie just before the attack. She wanted to end the war between humans and A.I. and gave Alphie the power to control all weaponry on Earth. She planned to use Alphie to destroy NOMAD, a deadly U.S. space station, and bring peace to both sides. This makes Alphie’s creation a powerful symbol of Maya’s vision and love for Joshua.

The Creator is a stunning film that dazzles the eyes with its brilliant use of CGI and its richly detailed world. However, it is the story that touches the heart with its portrayal of Joshua and Alphie’s complicated yet simple relationship. Their bond gives the film a more profound emotional resonance and makes us care about their fate.

Joshua and Alphie’s relationship also reflects the larger conflict between humans and A.I. in the film. The Creator explores the theme of A.I. sims as sentient beings with feelings, emotions, and connections just like humans. By showing us how Joshua and Alphie love each other, the film convinces us that humans and A.I. can live in harmony.

Joshua learns to see A.I. as more than just machines when he forms a fatherly bond with Alphie. His worldview changes even more when he discovers that his unborn child is connected to Alphie. He goes through an emotional journey of embracing A.I. as an old friend, thanks to Alphie and the Creator.

Got the rare talent to binge an entire show in a single sitting just like that. Although a sucker for psychological thrillers, no bias for any genre when it comes to a good story. A living proof that Netflix and chill is not a myth!
