This is catastrophic for Alex, as the public will scrutinize her reputation and humiliate her to the core. Episode 7, titled ‘Strict Scrutiny,’ deals with another glaring societal issue, i.e., the changing abortion laws in the US.
The episode starts with Alex and Paul entwined in amorous bonds. However, they are cautious not to let their relationship become public as it will destroy their careers.
Meanwhile, Cory faces another obstacle, this time from his mother, Martha. She’s a political strategist trying to jeopardize the UBA’s merger and thus ruin her son’s life.
Cory takes Bradley to his mom’s house to try and persuade her to back off. However, things work out, and Martha drives Cory out of her house.
Elsewhere, Stella still faces a massive dilemma about accepting Paul Marks’ offer. She finally confides in Cory, and Cory suggests a sneaky plan to manipulate UBA from within.
Meanwhile, Paul and Alex receive a message from the Vault gossip magazine. It states that they have a picture of the two kissing and will leak it the next day. This drives Levy and Marks into a frenzy. However, Paul assures her that he’ll buy out the news and the magazine.
The episode finally ends with the UBA journalists springing into action after the disastrous overturning of the Roe vs. Wade case by the Supreme Court, which changes abortion laws across the country.
