Gunther’s Visa Woes: Will He Be Able to Compete at Elimination Chamber?

Gunther has been unstoppable inside the ring ever since he signed a deal with WWE and has been one of the most successful professional wrestlers lately.

The juggernaut debuted at NXT UK under the name Walter and captured the championship just months later by ending Pete Dunne’s historic reign. Little did the fans know that it was just the start of his dominance.

The Austrian decimated Dunne’s record to become the longest-reigning NXT UK champion and held it for over 870 days! Finally, he changed his name to Gunther weeks after losing his title ahead of his main roster debut.

However, his unparalleled dominance might be in jeopardy due to an unanticipated legal complication that prevents him from leaving the US for six months.

1. Why can’t Gunther leave the US?

According to an interview released by the German publication Krone, Gunther is working for WWE under a visa, and the red tape around that documentation prevents him from traveling outside US for the next 6 months.

Therefore, any WWE event outside the US will not feature the Austrian star for the next six months. This includes the coveted WWE Elimination Chamber that is scheduled to take place in February 2024 in Quebec, Canada.

However, he will be free to travel overseas by August 2024 and compete in the WWE Bash event in Berlin, Germany.

2. What is the Elimination Chamber?

Elimination Chamber is a WWE pay-per-view event that includes main event matches contested inside a massive steel structure known as the Elimination Chamber.

The chamber features four inner pods from where competitors are released randomly during the match. The last man or woman standing after eliminating all opponents wins the competition.

The Elimination Chamber is one of the most unpredictable and hotly contested events of the entire year and can have massive implications for the future of the participants.

The winners can earn coveted championship opportunities and get a chance to defend their titles at WrestleMania, WWE’s flagship event of the year!

3. How will Gunther’s absence affect the Elimination Chamber?

Gunther’s absence from the Elimination Chamber will have a massive impact on the entire WWE landscape.

As the Intercontinental Champion, he was expected to defend his title. However, since he can’t travel to Canada, it opens the spot for another RAW superstar to take his place.

Now, the biggest question is who will replace him. Will it be someone who’s already qualified, like Kevin Owens, Darmian Priest, or AJ Styles?

Or, will it be someone who hasn’t earned a spot, such as the likes of Big E, Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, or Bobby Lashley?

Whoever replaces Gunther will have the golden opportunity to become the new Intercontinental Champion and potentially face the WWE Champion at WrestleMania!

Meanwhile, Gunther will keep on participating in events in the US and defending his title against anyone who dares to challenge him. The Ring General will not let something as menial as a visa issue to stop him from achieving his goals, will he?
