Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Reportedly Loses Director Destin Cretton

Destin Daniel Cretton will no longer be the director of the much-anticipated Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The director has been attached to the film since last year, making the exit even more shocking for the fraternity.

In Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Jonathan Majors will play the titular Kang, who has been touted as the next big-bad-thing by the MCU after Thanos.

We see a variant of Kang for the first time in the Loki season 1 finale, with another variant appearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film’s climax revealed the entire Council of Kangs, with several iterations of the supervillain making life impossible for the protagonists.

However, actor Jonathan Majors recently got into legal trouble because of a harassment charge, endangering his future with the MCU. While he awaits his trial in New York, his future as Kang the Conqueror looks extremely murky and is bad news for both the actor and the franchise.

One major issue that accelerated Cretton’s departure was the constantly shifting release date for the Kang Dynasty. The initial release date for the film was slated to be May 2025, but it was pushed back to May 2026.

However, with all the strikes and Majors’ legal case, it won’t be surprising if the release date is pushed back further.

Until then, Cretton will focus on developing a sequel for Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The director was also hired as the executive producer and director of the TV series Wonder Man. Although the creative has been shut down due to the incessant strikes, it will definitely continue filming in the coming weeks!

Got the rare talent to binge an entire show in a single sitting just like that. Although a sucker for psychological thrillers, no bias for any genre when it comes to a good story. A living proof that Netflix and chill is not a myth!
