Rick and Morty S7 E8 Sets Up a Star-Studded ‘Numericons vs. Geometrons’ Sequel!

Summary

  • Rick and Morty season 7 episode 8’s post-credit scene sets up a star-studded sequel filled with Numericons and Geometrons.
  • Episode 8 features a hilarious guest appearance from rapper-actor Ice-T, and Ice Cube seeks help from him for another mission in the post-credits.
  • It is unlikely that Numericons vs. Geometrons will ever happen, but the show can give Ice-T and Ice Cube a fitting farewell in future episodes.

Showrunners have left fans grappling with excitement for a star-studded sequel with season 7-episode 8’s post-credit scene. However, we don’t have any confirmation of a sequel, and it is difficult to say whether the show will pull off this ambitious episode or not.

Rick and Morty season 8 has been all about madness (with a touch of emotion), and this week’s episode is no exception. “Rise of the Numbericons: The Movie” sees the rise of numbers and letters as they wage a war for world domination. Morty joins Mr. Goldenfold to solve the crisis, and they team up with Ice-T to end the war between numbers and letters. Sounds bizarre? Well, which Rick and Morty episode doesn’t?

After a relatively serious stretch of episodes and the death of Rick Prime, episode 8 is all about mocking shows like Star Wars and their absurd plots. In this episode, Dan Harmon and his team make fun of weird civilizations that fight amongst themselves for intergalactic dictatorship.

However, the icing on the cake is actor-rapper Ice-T’s hilariously self-deprecating guest appearance. Ice-T plays a fictionalized version of himself and transforms into Magma-T and Water-T throughout the episode.

The character previously appeared in season 2, episode 5, when creator Dan Harmon voiced him. This time, Ice-T is voiced by the rapper himself, which makes the prospect even more hilarious.

Now, let’s focus on the post-credit scenes. After the bizarre conundrum in episode 8, the after-credit sequence expands the universe of the Numbericons even further. The clip hints that the ‘Rise of the Numericons’ could be followed by the ‘Challenge of the Geometrons.’

In the post-credits, hip-hop legend Ice Cube appears as a real talking Cube and asks Magma-T to help save the Geometrons.

So, we can expect a future war between the Numericons and the Geometrons.

Since the end credits list Ice-T as one of the guest stars, we can be sure that Dan Harmon doesn’t play his character like in season 2.

However, it is difficult to predict whether that will be the case with Ice Cube. Although Ice Cube has a history of playing comedy roles, we don’t know whether he will be content with an appearance limited to a post-credit stinger.

Finally, it’ll be challenging to make the world of Geometrons and Numericons relevant again because Morty’s stint with Mr. Goldenfold came to a natural conclusion this week.

While ‘Challenge of the Geometrons’ sounds like an intriguing watch, making it, in reality, is an ordeal. However, that doesn’t delete the prospects of Ice-T and Ice Cube returning in future episodes, and the makers may still give their story a satiable conclusion.
