The setting of True Detective season 4 reminds me of Dan Brown’s Deception Point. Murders, mysterious cults, and everything in between are covered in a thick layer of Arctic ice, and the detectives have an ordeal on their hands this season.
Finally, how are the disappearances connected to the murder of Annie K? What is the cult really up to? These and many other questions need to be answered by the makers as soon as possible! Let’s take a deep dive into next week’s plot without further ado!
1. Episode 3 Synopsis/Speculation
In episode 3, Navarro and Liz will be on the hunt for Clark, the only survivor of the Tsalal Station massacre. Things will be tough to predict with so many variables to deal with. However, I will try to paint a picture for episode 3.
I think the two detectives will find Clark, and with him will be the elusive Annie K (yes, she’s alive)! Clark will reveal how the station was attacked by the infiltrators, who killed the scientists and dragged their bodies through the ice.
However, he saw one unique spiral tattoo on the chest of the cult leader.
It won’t take the officers much time to realize that they are dealing with a cult that has connections to the Tuttle family, the same family that was behind the Yellow King murders in Louisiana.
Annie K will also reveal that she was a former member of the cult who escaped and tried to expose them.
However, she couldn’t escape the frozen desert and has been helping Clark stay alive.
This will start the sinister cat-and-mouse chase between the detectives and the monstrous cult. They will be confronted by horrors that will test their sanity and belief.
Who will survive? What is the cult up to? Why was Annie K a part of the cult, and why did she leave? Can they trust her?

They uncover a lot of dirt from the past and realize that Annie and Clark were past lovers and involved in a cult that uses a spiral symbol.
The cult uses frozen bodies to practice the concept of resurrecting them from the dead with a substance called ‘The Light’.
The episode ends with Liz and Navarro preparing to raid their hideouts.
