Zoë Kravitz Directorial Debut Gets a New Title and New Release Date

Zoe Kravitz has recently changed the title of her directorial debut from ‘Pussy Island’ to ‘Blink Twice.’

Having already conquered the acting and singing worlds, Kravitz is well on her way to adding the title of filmmaker to her resume. 

From The Batman to High Fidelity to the Fantastic Beasts saga, Kravitz has dazzled audiences with her versatile performances. 

In 2021, she revealed her ambition to direct her own film based on a screenplay she had been crafting since 2017. Amazon MGM Studios acquired the rights, and it’ll be released shortly on their platform.

Per Deadline, the film has received an official title, Blink Twice and has also received a concrete release date of August 23, 2024. 

Therefore, it takes the same release date as Sony’s faith-based drama, The Forge.

The script for ‘Blink Twice’ was written by Kravitz and E.T. Feigenbaum, who also wrote an episode of ‘High Fidelty.’ Moreover, she’s also serving as the film’s producer alongside Bruce Cohen, Jordan Harkins, Garret Levitz, and Tiffany Persons.

The film follows a cocktail waitress (Naomi Ackie) who embarks on a thrilling romantic adventure with a tech billionaire. However, when he takes her to his private island, she realizes things have gone wrong.

Moreover, Kravitz’s fiance, Channing Tatum, is also confirmed to star in Blink Twice as the tech-billionaire Slater King. 

Besides Tatum and Ackie, other names are also in contention for various roles, like Christian Slater, Haley Joel Osment, Adria Arjona, Geena Davis, Levon Hawke, Kyle MacLachlan, Alia Shawkat, and Simon Rex. However, their roles remain undisclosed.

Finally, Blink Twice is also expected to tackle issues deeper than the quintessential thriller. Kravitz revealed that she rewrote the script after the advent of the #MeToo movement. 

Kravitz revealed that she wants to examine gender roles and power dynamics in the entertainment industry. Therefore, the movie will surely focus on the discrepancy and power struggle women endure throughout their lives.
