Bethesda makes gamers wait for a dedicated Starfield showcase

Bethesda is reportedly still ironing out their upcoming title, “Starfield.” They’re still “sorting stuff out” and will need more time before unveiling the game. The release date and any details are awaited.

Community manager Robert “VaultOfDaedalus” O’Neill informed on Bethesda’s official Discord server that they are “still sorting stuff out” and “nothing specific is being withheld.”

Starfield will be Bethesda’s first new IP in over 25 years, which was announced during an E3 in 2018, accompanied by an in-game teaser. Director Todd Howard described the game as “Skyrim in space”.

This scales the game to infinite proportions – in terms of both gameplay and hype. Quite literally, players can create their own space explorer to discover over 1000 planets, meet NPCs, craft equipment, and improve skills.

From the “location insight developer videos”, Neon, Akila, and New Atlantis were the three locations to be revealed.

Starfield was not there at Microsoft’s Xbox showcase last month. A separate release date unveiling date for Starfield was planned by Bethesda, with claims of the game “coming very soon.”

Slated for a 2023 first-half release, after this delay, the game might make it in time for a late June release. This is supported by the GOG store page leak of the release date as 29th of June, before being swiftly taken down.

There had also been another rumor that Starfield’s release would be in the year’s second half. This seems more likely now, given the delay. However, nothing can be concretely said about this until either Bethesda or Microsoft confirm it.

An optimistic point of view is that the showcase aims to be groundbreaking, befitting the level of the game, and reveal a lot of new gameplay and information.
