Counter-Strike 2 beta leaked with torrent available for offline only

Counter-Strike 2 was made available for “Limited Testing” yesterday amidst much hype following Valve’s announcement. The main reason was the brand-new upgrades that the game saw.

As per Twitter user @vx-underground and then @masterchaerge, they claimed 10 hours back that Counter-Strike 2 was leaked with a torrent already. While initially, the authenticity was doubtful, a further probe by him found that the Digital Signature was indeed of Valve Corporation, the game’s developers.

In reply to the tweet, he mentioned that playing on the Goldberg Steam Emulator, the game had a fun experience. The only catch is that the torrent edition is for offline play only.

While the improved “sub-tick” architecture is mainly applicable if playing online, the offline mode can show if at all most of the improvements were true or not, amongst others.

This is confirmed by user Redditor r/ign1zz who claims that the three improvements mentioned namely the “subtick”, improved maps and smoke improvements are merely just tip of the iceberg.

Some improvements noted were the ability to see shadow on lower body and feet and the inheritance of the bottle shaders for Molotov. Since the game is in beta testing, it has to be a while before reliable information starts coming in.

All of the above must be taken with a grain of salt as these are the words of people who claimed to be on the “Limited Testing”.

There were also warnings by Valve officials on how people can get scammed by “Limited Test scams”, describing how they take the trust factor and age of gameplay into account before invitations.

It was admitted that Counter Strike 2 was the biggest leap forward by arguably any company after the longstanding successful CS:GO. This comes after CS:GO broke the concurrent playing record for the second time in 2023.

It has also been mentioned that modders will soon play with the Source 2 engine, which is state-of-the-art and has many possibilities. The object workshop is also slated to come in later while the beta is going on, as per reports.

The game’s official release is slated for “Summer 2023,” which is pretty vague. However, given the leak, it probably will not be long, depending on Valve’s stance.
