AMD RX 7600M XT tested to be faster than Nvidia RTX 4060 as per 3DMark

AMD has been trying to consolidate its foothold in the GPU market. This task is challenging, given that they must compete against Nvidia and Intel.

However, the first benchmark for AMD’s fastest RDNA3-based GPU has been released by a laptop manufacturer called Metaphyun Metamech. As per the 3DMark Fire Strike benchmarks, the RX 7600M XT is faster than the GeForce RTX 4060.

It has to be kept in mind that the RX 7600M XT scores 30393 points in 3DMark Fire Strike compared to the RTX 4060’s meager 26931 points and is about 13% faster. The AMD GPU, however, ends up 5% slower in 3DMark Time Spy with 10451 points to RTX 4060’s 10969 points.

This makes sense, given that according to AMD, this is their best-ever GPU. The RX 7600M XT, based on the RDNA3 GPU technology, uses the Navi 33 die with 6nm process technology. The GPU is mainly targeted toward mainstream users.

The 7600M XT boasts 32 Computing Units with 2048 shader processors. It comes loaded with 8GB of GDDR6 memory with 18Gbps data transfer rates and a big 128-bit bus interface. There’s also a 32MB Infinity cache, amplifying the bus bandwidth 3.25 times.

The TGP for the RX 7600M XT is about 75-120 W. This happens to be similar to the RTX 4060’s base TGP of 35-115 W. However, with both the GPUs designed and aimed for efficiency, it is great work by team red that their GPU ends up on top.

Specifications to the Nvidia 40 series and AMD RDNA3 GPUs

From a buyer’s point of view, it would be smart to go for the RDNA3 RX 7600/7700 series AMD GPUs, given they start at a sub $1000 US mark, as compared to the RTX 4060 laptops starting at over $1000 US.

The competition in the mid/entry-level segment is heating up now. Nvidia is sure to face more competition from AMD in the coming days. However, Nvidia’s dominance in the high-end mobile GPU segment remains unaffected, with no news from AMD on that front.
