Fortnite vaults “Jelly Angler” Reality Augment, set for future return

Fortnite’s Chapter 4 Season 1 brought the Reality Augment System. The Jelly Angler is one of the 22 Augments available in-game, selectable in the match.

Mainly used for looting, players selecting this will get a fishing rod that can only catch a “jellyfish” – a consumable item that heals 20HP, functioning similarly to a Chug Splash. Teammates, if they’re in proximity, also get healed.

This was a fan-favorite inclusion because, firstly, it could be caught in any body of water and didn’t have to be aimed at fishing holes. One could stay outside the circle for as long as needed with enough Jellyfish in inventory.

Fortnite Status recently announced that the Jelly Angler will be “vaulted” with the update v24.20 and is set to make a return in an update in the future, with modifications and “new functionalities.”

This doesn’t mark the end of reality Augments, as there are more potent ones out there even after this update in Season 2 of Chapter 4. These augments are better and work passively.

While it remains unknown how or why Epic Games intend to modify the Jelly Angler, it is speculated that they want to make it viable so that players would favor choosing it over more powerful Augments like the Munitions slide.

Augments were a huge hit amongst the fans for their utilitarian values. They allowed players to formulate a huge number of strategies on the go. It was possible to create overpowered pistols using Augments in Fortnite, taking the whole fanbase by storm.

However, this particular move by Epic Games was lauded as this would mean that players wouldn’t have to throw away a reroll in attempts to secure a better Reality Augment.
