Infinity Ward fixes UI issues for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has generated billions of dollars in revenue in just ten days, shattering franchise records. However, since the launch of Season 3, fans have complained of clunky UI.

Fans have complained that the UI is scattered and unintuitive, especially when it comes to the camo selection screen. Every awkward visual design problem and the unintuitive menu becomes magnified when players try to put their camo on the guns.

The 186 camos are selectable only through horizontal selection. All the camos are displayed together making it difficult to find the unlocked ones.

Problematic UI design in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s camo select screen

In the six months since the release, Infinity Ward has made gradual improvements to the UI. The user interface, now, no longer looks stretched.

More than the UI troubles are the glitches that have made life harder for the fans. As reported by u/lolbbg1 months back, a glitch caused a rainbow camo. While it was visually very pleasing, this glitch definitely is not to be expected from a game of this scale.

Players, however, aren’t totally happy that the developers, Infinity Ward, have not committed to widespread changes in the UI. It is highly unlikely that such a step is going to be taken.

A complete overhaul is a laborious task, and it makes little sense to do this, given the short lifespan of most titles in the Call of Duty Franchise.

Recently, the developers came under more fire for their pay-to-win DMZ bundles. This is unlike the nature of the game and sets a bad precedent going forward.

Hopefully, all these bugs and glitches are momentary slip-ups that will be taken care of soon. Fans hope that their favorite franchise isn’t ruined by mere hunger for money. Call of Duty 2023, set to be announced in the coming weeks, will make it clearer.
