Resident Evil 4 mod with fixed-camera angles turns back time

Developers Capcom have continued the trend of modernizing classic titles with Resident Evil 4. With a long-standing list of titles in the series starting in 1996, the game has rarely not lived up to the expectations of fans, with the possible exception of Umbrella Corps, the tactical shooter.

For those with more advanced tastebuds, the barebones remake might not do it. However, they need not worry as modders are very active, implementing changes which range from minor tweaks to complete overhauling of UI.

One new video on Youtube by the channel Cycu1, spotted by DSO gaming, features fixed camera angles. This is a callback to the classic installments back in the days of the Resident Evil Series, instead of the over-the-shoulder perspective.

It has to be kept in mind that Cycu1 is not working on releasing a mod that has brought this feature. It’s merely a hopeful representation, as told in the description “Hope someone will create such a mod in the future.”

The remake is made with an over-shoulder look and the seventh and eighth entries are in pure first person. OG fans of the game, however, will remember the days when Resident Evil had fixed cameras.

Most fans love this feature in horror games as it introduces another variable where players can’t see around the corner. This certainly raises the pulse a little bit better than the first person.

Enthusiasts and gamers who don’t mind deviating a bit from the original gameplay can also try out the experimental VR mod, DLSS mod as well as one that adds RPG-like health bars to enemies. There’s also an FPS mod reportedly in development.

The Resident Evil 4 remake did introduce some changes while also dropping things from the original title. It will be interesting to see which direction Capcom takes for future releases.
