Details about Meteor Lake-S and Arrow Lake-S CPU board and sockets leaked

Intel’s upcoming desktop CPU slide has been leaked. This leak A slide has been leaked which details the configurations of the Meteor Lake-S and Arrow Lake-S chips for the 800-series platform.

Leaked by @SquashBionic on Twitter, this slide gives a high-level overview of the next-gen Meteor Lake-S and Arrow Lake-S series.

As per the leak, it has been suggested that the Meteor Lake-S offers up to Core i5 with a TDP of 65W, and the Arrow Lake-S will offer up to Core i9 with 125W TDP. Both will be capable of DDR5 memory and are meant for Intel 800 Series Chipset.

The Meteor Lake-S and the Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs will feature support on the LGA 1851 V1 Socket, which supports 16 x PCIe 5.0 for GPUs. The main advantage is improved connectivity for SSDs attached directly to the CPU.

This comes in dimensions of 45 x 37.5mm, the same as the existing LGA 1700 socket. This would ensure easy compatibility with the cooler. This also means that they are going to be Z890, H870, B860, and H810 chipset-based motherboards.

The slide also mentions that the Meteor Lake-S CPUs will become core i5 SKUs with the typical 65W TDP. It will also have 3-4 VR Phases, whereas the Arrow Lake-S CPUs will come up to Core i9 SKUs and in 6-7 VR phases at a peak TDP of 125W.

It was mentioned that multiple variants are expected, including performance-tuned variants. This also means that the Meteor Lake-S Desktop CPUs will have lower cores when compared to the Raptor Lake counterparts, as they only go up to i5 SKUs.

Intel’s upcoming Meteor Lake-S and Arrow Lake-S processors are expected to be the company’s most significant CPU releases. The shift to the 7nm process should provide a significant performance spurt.

The mid-range Meteor Lake-S lineup should be enough for casual gamers and content creators, while the higher-end Arrow Lake-S will be favored by the power-hungry users looking to get the best performance out of their rigs.
