Destiny 2’s Next Season of the Deep Trailer Shares a Glimpse of Titan

Destiny 2’s current season is nearing its end. Developers Bungie have shared a glimpse of what lies ahead, sparking interest and curiosity amongst fans.

The new teaser shows quick flashes of Titan, with a Radio message from Sloane, who is returning in the upcoming Season – Season of the Deep. It also teased that players would have to go underneath Titan’s waves to investigate the potential mysterious creature in the moon’s massive ocean.

According to the game’s lore, it is believed that this creature could be a powerful ally. Season of Deep will pick up where the current Season of Defiance ends.

During the Season of Defiance, they continued Lightfall’s narrative of the Witness’ invasion of the Sol System and its impact on Earth. While the guardians were able to rescue a majority of the Last City’s denizens who were captured by Witness’ forces, it came at the cost of a beloved character sacrificing their life for the penultimate narrative mission.

Season of the Deep begins here as the guardians try to regroup and find an ally in their war against the Witness, traveling to the newly returned Titan under Deputy Commander Sloane, who has returned with a few tricks of her own.

It is believed in the community that the Season of the Deep will have the most significant impact on the lore that Destiny has to offer. The underwater shot also aligns well with the rumor amongst the players that there is an underwater creature standing guard and would be a potent ally.

The theory suggests that the creature is the Leviathan which stood guard on Fundament – the planet where the Hive was born. This was done to keep the Worm Gods trapped beneath the massive oceans.

If this rumor comes to life in the upcoming season, it could very well be the biggest and deepest lore cuts Bungie has managed to work into the game itself.

In keeping with the previous seasons, players will have new activities to keep themselves busy and gear to grind for as they explore Titan and its vastness. There have also been no mentions of the upcoming “Dungeon” that will be used to test the players.

The Season of the Deep releases on May 23rd. This means players need not hold their breath for much longer, as they’ll need it under Titan’s waters.
