Dead Space Remake is available as the first title for free trial on Steam

Steam, one of the largest e-stores for gaming titles on the web, has to constantly adapt to changes and give gamers and users what they’re asking for.

Given the growing market and rising demands, Steam has to keep up with its competitors like Nintendo and PlayStation, and Xbox. One such measure they took was the release of their handheld Windows-based console – the Steam Deck – allowing users to play games from their Steam library on the go.

They have devised another tactic to increase engagement and make their platform more lucrative. They are allowing game trials that will reportedly be 90 minutes long, wherein the player will have access to the entire title for the given duration. The first title to have the 90-minute game trial on Steam will be The Dead Space Remake.

This means that the players can play 90 minutes of the game for free before being asked to purchase the game. While many may consider this a bit short, it’s an intelligent strategy on Steam’s part to get players hooked to the game before asking them to purchase the titles.

Players will also feel they are being treated fairly as they don’t have to purchase a title without knowing what they’re putting their hard-earned money into. 

This policy isn’t the first of its kind. Nintendo has done it before with games like ARMS. Thus, it was expected that Steam would follow suit at some point in time.

The free game trial is easy to access as players navigate to the game page on Steam and select the button labeled “Try Dead Space – Free trial.” The time allotted excludes the time required to install.

The game isn’t cheap. However, with the current 20% discount, Dead Space Remake comes in at USD 47.99 until May 29^th, 2023.

It still hasn’t been communicated if the trial will be available to the EA Play members. However, this is a big step in achieving user-friendly purchasing strategies that other corporations will look to incorporate.

6Dead Space Remake is the next-gen remake of the 2008 sci-fi action horror franchise developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts. The Remake is being handled by EA Motive and is set to feature various upgrades to the visuals, sound, and gameplay.

Dead Space follows the story of Isaac Clarke, an engineer on board an intergalactic mining ship called the USSG Ishimura. On discovering an ancient artifact known as The Marker, the ship is overrun by a species of aliens called Necromorphs. With the aliens turning the crew into one of their own, Isaac must fight through the hordes as he tries to find a way to get back to Earth.

The gameplay is reminiscent of the Resident Evil franchise, with inventory management being a key component. Players have access to a variety of mining tools that become weapons and must navigate the claustrophobic corridors of the Ishimura while fighting off the Necromorphs.
