AMD’s RX 7600 will use older heatsinks, specs released ahead of launch

AMD’s upcoming card, the Radeon RX 7600, will be based on the RDNA 3 architecture. More details about the specifications and the performance have been leaked before its launch.

Spanish tech outlet, HD Tecnologia, has announced that board partners ASUS and ASRock will use older cooling designs already used in the RX 5700XT for the upcoming RX 7600. The GPU will come with 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM on a 128-bit interface, providing 288 GBps of bandwidth.

The RX 7600, based on the RDNA 3 architecture, will understandably have more power requirements than its predecessor based on the RDNA2 architecture.

As per the reviewer’s guide, the TBP for the RX 7600 starts at 165W, and the recommended supply wattage is 550W. This is 33W and 100W more than the previous generation RX 6600 respectively.

Thus, it makes little to no sense for the manufacturers to use the designs already used for the Navi 23 GPU-based cards that use 30% lesser power than the RX 7600.

The Power Consumption guide as mentioned in the Reviewers Handbook

Nitty gritty details of the specifications were also seen on the same website. The card will ship with a 2250MHz game clock and a 2625 MHz Boost clock.

The card will be based on the 6nm manufacturing process, boasting a 13.3 billion transistor count built atop a 204mm2 die. The RX 7600 will have 32 Compute Units and 2048 Stream processor configuration, as with the Navi 33 GPU.

The specifications of the RX 7600 as leaked by HD Tecnologia

Considering the 2nd gen Infinity Cache on the RX 7600, it will have an effective memory bandwidth of 476.9 Gbps. This is a considerable jump from the RX 6600, which comes with 412.9GBps.

While the memory may be faster, the memory bus is limited to 128 bits as of now. There are no upgrades to the PCIe interface either.

The RX 7600 will reportedly possess the same PCIe Gen 4.0 with eight lanes. The power connector will be 1 row of 8 pins. While no official date has been announced, the expected launch date is May 25th, 2023.
