Devs confirm Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty for Summer Games Fest on June 8th

Polish Developers CD Projekt Red have confirmed its presence for the Summer Game Fest on June 8th. As per the rumors earlier by Polish Podcasters “Rock and Borys,” the new expansion pack will drop soon.

A recent tweet by the developers CDPR confirmed that “Phantom Liberty,” the first and possibly only expansion pack for Cyberpunk 2077, will be unveiled as a part of the Summer Game Fest’s Play Days, wherein invited guests can play a part of the upcoming story.

It remains to be seen if the general public will have access to the Phantom Liberty DLC when its gameplay is revealed in the coming month. The Play Days may be limited to members of the press.

While it’s true that Cyberpunk 2077 did have a disastrous and very buggy launch, the series of patches fixed the game and made it very visually pleasing and enjoyable.

Cyberpunk was also the first title to feature Nvidia’s RT Overdrive mode, which uses path tracing instead of ray tracing using the RTX 40-series GPUs. This was a big win for CDPR and Nvidia, as it paved a new way for light to be rendered and generated.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty — Official Teaser #2

These new changes that the developers brought to the game made it a revolutionary piece of work and a trendsetter. This gives more reason to the fans to have faith in the upcoming DLC.

The DLC Phantom Liberty will feature a brand-new story and new characters. A downside is that CPDR has confirmed that the expansion pack won’t be available to previous-gen consoles.

One particular character by the name of Solomon Reed that gamers are hyped about is played by Idris Elba. The developers mentioned that Solomon Reed is a veteran New United States of America agent who is “apparently the only person players can trust to help them fulfill an impossible mission of espionage and survival.”

While it wasn’t confirmed if the DLC would get a release date, it was mentioned that Phantom Liberty would be a paid DLC. One thing is for sure CDPR is finalizing the DLC, so it won’t be a long time before we can experience the revamped yet unforgiving Night City once more.

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
